March Week 2 Friday Wrap-up

Phonics: We focused on sounding initial “bl”, “pl”, “ cl” & “gl”
through repetition and showing pictures of words that begin with
these blends. The students also copied words with initial “bl”,
“pl”, “cl” & “gl” on their journal.

The students detected “bl”, “pl”, “cl” & “gl” words after listening
to Letter Buddies: Blow the Blankets, Letter Buddies: Look at the
Plum, Letter Buddies:We Like to Clap and Letter Buddies: Glitter
on the Globe.
Jkers read for 15 minutes various introductory phonics books.

Identification

and solution)
They identified the story elements in the Dr. Seuss stories
they’ve listened to such as: The Lorax, There’s Wocket in My
Pocket, Oh, Baby The Places You’ll Go, And To Think I Saw It on
Mulberry Street and Horton Hatches an Egg.
Odd & Even
Numbers
They distinguished between odd and even using the number chart.
They further practiced differentiating between the two kinds of
numbers by completing coloring activities.

Various MathArt Activities
for Pi Day
They were introduced to fraction as were cutting the pies for Pi
day (Half of the pie 1/2, quarter of the pie 1/4 …..etc)
 Skip Counting Handprints: They painted their handprints
and skip-counted them by 10s and 5s.
 Patterned Kites: They used the ruler to make vertical and
horizontal lines on construction paper. They numbered the
squares on their paper and colored them to create
patterns. They cut three diamond shapes out of the
patterned paper to make kites.
 Paper-Chain: They counted how many days till the first
day of spring (7 days). Based on that, they made a paper
chain containing 7 links.
 Pi bracelet: The first 10 digits of pi were written on the
board. With odd number being green numbers and even
numbers being blue numbers, they made a bracelet using
green and blue beads following the pi number pattern.

Next Week
We will continue with “L” blends ( fl). We will also review sight words, rhyming
words, and opposites. In math, we review odd and even numbers, sequence numbers, and
compose and decompose numbers.
