Stanford University announces their Summer Institutes & their
Summer College Opportunities. Both programs offer highly
motivated and intellectually curious students the opportunity to
explore and discover topics not typically taught in secondary
schools. To learn more about both programs and their application

Federal Service Language Academy The University of North
Georgia (UNG) will host the fourth summer language academy for
high school rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in June and
July 2014. The Federal Service Language Academy (FSLA) is a
three-week residential program for students who are interested in
an intensive language experience, fitness, and exploring
international-related careers with the federal government. Last
year 132 students from over 32 US states and three foreign
countries successfully completed the FSLA.
During the two three-week sessions scheduled for 8-27 June & 625 July, students will be immersed in intensive language instruction
in First-Year Arabic, Chinese, Russian, German, Korean,
Portuguese or Second-Year Arabic, Chinese, Russian, German,
Portuguese, and Korean from highly qualified teachers, participate
in a daily fitness program, receive career counseling from federal
agency representatives (CIA, DEA, FBI, State Department,
Homeland Security, the Peace Corps and US Armed Forces), and
possibly receive high school credit for successful completion of the
academy.

Washington University in St. Louis is offering a high school
summer scholars program. This is open to current high school
sophomores, juniors and seniors. For more information and

My Spring Academy will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from
10:00 – 11:30a.m. at Dobbins Air Reserve Base located 1408
Dobbins Place, Dobbins ARB, 30069. This event is to familiarize
students with the United States military academies application and
nomination process and to expose them to academy life.
Representatives from all five academies as well as cadets and
midshipmen will be in attendance and will be available to answer
questions of parents and students. The event is open to students
grades 8 – 12. Anyone interested in attending must make a
reservation by registering online at http://isakson.senate.gov by
the registration deadline of Friday, May 2, 2014.

2014 Emory Pre-College Program – is an academic program for
rising juniors and seniors in high school. For more information or

DeVry University announces their PASSPORT 2 College program
for rising juniors and rising seniors. This program allows students
to get a jump-start on their college education at no tuition or

Quest 2014

QUEST is an opportunity for high-achieving, dedicated, rising high
school seniors who are looking for a summer challenge to
participate in cutting edge research at one of America’s leading
engineering colleges. During the summer of 2014, the James
Worth Bagley College of Engineering will once again host QUEST.
For approximately three weeks, students will work side-by-side
with engineering faculty members on exciting research projects in
an area that closely matches their academic interests.

Students must have a minimum ACT score of 28 to apply for the
QUEST Program. Careful consideration will be given to all
candidates. Please note: Space is limited and the selection
process is competitive.


QUEST participants will:
See the many advantages that Mississippi State University and its
top-notch engineering college have to offer,
Experience life on a college campus,
Attend special seminars designed to improve their life and
academic skills,
Go on tours of industrial and academic facilities,
Have an opportunity to improve their research skills,
