Right, Left or Independent? Political parties appeal to people because the parties seek to establish stands on “values”. This term is heavily laden, but usually includes things like economics, morals, business ethics, the free market, homosexuality, parenting, school choice, military spending, gun control, foreign policy etc. This is just a partial list, but enough so you can see that one political party will have a tough time addressing everything for everyone. Where do you stand? It’s time to do take a few quizzes to help determine your political affiliation. These quizzes are sort of informative, but also sort of entertaining. They will help establish a picture of your political viewpoints which may then help you establish a party you might support at this point in you life. They are in no way binding, nor should they be taking completely seriously. Take the quizzes, complete the assignment directions, and have fun. Please complete the assignments in another Word document. Be sure to save it and put your name on the top. The assignment will be collected in class on Fri, Oct 16th (or before leaving class today). Anything not completed in class is homework – save your work accordingly! Step 1. See page 2 of this file and copy it as a new Word Document. Put your name, period, on the top. Save this file. You will put your responses/information on this, print it, and submit it at the end of class TODAY – hard copy! Step 2. Go to the first test at http://www.politicalcompass.org/index please make a commitment to answer as honestly as possible. The questions are tricky, with lots of double negatives, so make sure your answer means what you want it to mean, otherwise you might end up looking like Hitler instead of the Ghandi in your heart. Step 3. After you have taken the test, copy and paste your grid on your Word document. Take the time to read what it means about you. Do some quick, additional research by looking at the “Region Specific” bar on the far left of the website. Choose the area that most closely matches your passport country. You can default to NZ, Aus, Canada, or the US if you can’t find your passport country represented. Step 5 .
