The Basics of Theology Hebrews 2:10 Senior Lesson: Friday 10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Why did God make us? Doesn’t the bible verse above explain the basic reason. God wants to bless you! He wants a big family. When we get to be with Him forever in Heaven we have fulfilled our purpose with God. In order to do that there are some things we must know about religion: 1. You are made up of two things, body and spirit. God is three: a. Father b. Son c. Holy Spirit 2. WHAT TO DO TO BE SAVED: a. Hear the gospel Romans 10:______ b. Believe John 3:____ c. Repent of your sins Luke _____:1-3 d. Be baptized for forgiveness of sins Acts 2:_____ Keep in mind you will not stay saved unless you follow Revelation 2:10. Read and discuss that verse. 3. HOW TO WORSHIP GOD: a. Pray b. Give c. Take Communion (Lord’s Supper d. Preach e. Sing We already studied on these things earlier this week. Let’s talk about How we can do them right. God wants us to be like Him, that is, “children of the Father” (Matthew 5:45). We are like God when we are sincere, grounded in reality (searching for truth, John 8:32), and have a mind to serve (Matthew 20:28). Furthermore, God is looking for children who are respectful and looking for spiritual things. Just as we want children in the family to listen to instructions & learn how to take on responsibility, God wants the same of His children. Do you do all of these items of worship regularly? If not, how can you get someone to help you come to church each week? Is there anyone at camp who can help you? Please talk to your counselor if you have any requests before you leave camp. Discussion 1. Why doesn’t God make everyone the same? Is it fair with God to make people different? (see Romans 9:20) 2. When, that is how old were you, when you first started thinking about God? Can you remember? Application 1. Look up Bible verses for each of the items in no. 1 of your lesson. That is, find references for Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Extra credit for finding them all in one form or another in a single verse or passage. 2. Exchange contact information with at least one other person here at camp, encourage each other to stay faithful and come back next year!
