Almost every person in the sciences is required to take calculus. However, only a few seem able to adequately define it.
Even Webster’s definition lacks some substance.
However, you really ought to have some idea of the nature of a subject before you begin to study it.
Therefore, do some research and find a substantive definition of calculus (a mathematical one that you are satisfied
with) together with a couple adequate ideas of where it is applied. This can be done via the web ---although please do
not take the first definition you get when googling--- but try also to utilize human resources (folks in the research
sciences, or ones who do have some recollection of the true concepts of calculus). Ask someone who has had a calculus
experience. Please paraphrase/summarize this information in your own selected words on this sheet, together with a
list of the resources you used.
