I spent two years using affirmative prayer and massage techniques to help my son start each day with more motivation and less fear. Within 12 months he weaned off all his medications and by the end of two years he was attending mainstream classes at school. It was like watching my son being born all over again! This was a new start to his life journey and mine. I have since found success combining affirmative prayer, massage therapy, CranioSacral Therapy, and Reiki. Motivating/Teaching/Goal Setting/Achieving: I teach Hatha yoga to people with limited mobility, “Loving Touch” to parents of children with developmental disabilities, and “Living Better Techniques” to people living with fibromyalgia. I have a history of setting and achieving personal and business goals and I enjoy motivating others to do the same. In 2003 I turned my 1100 sq. ft. office-of-one into a successful and self-sustaining business-of-six. I attribute its’ success to my ability to sell the benefits of my work to the community, follow through with the promised benefits, and finally, teach others how to do the same. Overcoming Obstacles: I recently overcame what was believed to be a permanent disability. In October 2008, after fighting a Fibromyalgia flare for more than 12 months straight, (typical is 3 months w/pain then 3 months w/out pain) I turned my business over to another therapist, gave up on life as I knew it, and filed for permanent disability. In January 2009 I found a group of therapists/doctors to teach me how to manage every aspect of the Fibromyalgia. I scheduled each therapy they suggested and worked closely with the physician to find the right combination of food, supplements, medication, and exercise. I started working one hour a day and gradually worked my way up 40-hours a week. I have now worked full time without a flare for over two years. This has been my most difficult yet heart-filled accomplishment yet! The experience left me with a desire to teach others how to find their passion for life, no matter what obstacle stands in their way. Public Speaker/Ordained Minister/Writer: Experienced as a public speaker and motivator, I am capable of interacting with people one on one or in large groups. I conduct workshops, seminars, and support groups on anger management, meditation, fibromyalgia, metaphysics, and touch therapies. Currently I am working on a book titled Loving Touch, A Process for Children with Emotional & Developmental Disabilities” and will be documenting research from Tiffany Field of The Touch Institute, as one of my main sources of reference. I was ordained in 1999 and have since been officiating weddings as an outlet of my passion for creative writing and public speaking. I create custom ceremonies for couples wishing to get married or renew their vows and offer spiritual counseling to people of all faiths. 3 Presentations, Publications, & Public Service 2013 Co-Founder and facilitator of Hendricks Regional/YMCA Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain & Fatigue Support Group, Avon, Indiana 2012-Present Advocate for people living with Fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions.
