With these celebrations the Church reminds us of the importance of our prayers to the Saints in Heaven, as well as, praying for the suffering souls in purgatory. We, the living, together with the Holy Souls in purgatory and the Saints in heaven make up the Communion of Saints. Together we make up a single "mystical body", with Christ as the head, in which each member contributes to the good of all and shares in the welfare of all. The communion of saints is the spiritual union of the members of the Catholic Church, living and the dead which includes, The Church Militant, those of us still living on earth who are working to become saints in heaven, The Church Suffering, the Holy Souls in purgatory who are in the state of purification, and The Church Triumphant, the saints in heaven. Our belief in the communion of saints is affirmed in the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. During this month of Holy Souls, let us renew our devotions to the Saints in Heaven and pray diligently for the Holy Souls in purgatory. Pope Francis October Prayer Intentions Peace. On that day we will suspend our Coffee An’ as the blood drive will take place down stairs in the parish hall. • Our Lady of Czenstochowa One of the greatest gifts we can give to our children is to teach them the Catholic Faith. “Let everything take second place to our care of our children, our bringing them up to the discipline and instruction of the Lord. If from the beginning we teach them to love true wisdom, they will have great wealth and glory than riches can provide. If a child learns a trade, or is highly educated for a lucrative profession, all this is nothing compared to the art of detachment from riches; if you want to make your child rich, teach him this. He is truly rich who does not desire great possessions, or surround himself with wealth, but who requires nothing…Don’t think that only monks need to learn the Bible; Children about to go out into the world stand in greater need of Scriptural knowledge.” -St. John Chrysostom Father Paul Desmarais will be here in our Parish October 26th at 9am in the church to speak about the “spirit world”. Father Paul is pastor of St. Mary’s Parish and St. James chapel. Everyone is invited to listen to Father Paul in the church with the Religious Education students. The “Turkey” is back: The St. Vincent de Paul Society will be collecting food to make up 25 Thanksgiving Baskets again this year.
