Discuss the SGNA Approver unit Describe the process for submitting a program to the SGNA approver unit for contact hour approval SGNA’s Commitment to Competency Maintain Approver and Provider unit accreditation through the ANCC (credentialing arm of the ANA) Require SGNA Regions to provide 6 contact hours annually to maintain charter Designate headquarters staff specifically to Approver and Provider units CEPRG - Continuing Education Peer Review Group Consists of volunteer peers Role is to review program objectives and content specifically based on ANCC criteria Three CEPRG members are designated to review each program application ANCC American Nurse’s Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation (COA) develops criteria for nursing contact hour approval SGNA is an accredited Approver and Provider of nursing contact hours through the ANCC-COA Who Can Apply? SGNA regional societies Providers whose subject matter is related to gastroenterology, GI nursing or endoscopy such as health care facilities and other non-profit groups What do I Need to Apply? Access the SGNA online application When do I Need to Apply? Completed applications must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the start of your program.
