Bentley College
Lauren Webb is double majoring in both Economics-Finance and Liberal Studies with a
concentration in Earth, Environment, and Global Sustainability. She is also minoring in
Accounting. On campus, she is involved with the Bentley Investment Group (BIG) as
Secretary on the executive board and Assistant Team Leader for the Energy Sector which
sparked her interest in investment education. She also serves as the Student Manager of the
Hughey Center for Financial Services.
Arielle Landsberg is double majoring in Corporate Finance and Accounting as well as
Global Perspectives. On campus, she is the Vice President and co-founder of the Bentley
University chapter of 85 Broads Bentley University Chapter, a multinational organization for
women in business. Arielle has helped organize various networking and philanthropic
events through 85 Broads, including a fundraiser for the organization Dress for Success.
Neha Singh is double majoring in Economics-Finance and Quantitative Perspectives. She is
also minoring in french. Neha aspires to see the world and to learn about different cultures.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling and volunteering.
Wellesley College
Sara Li ’13- I am a junior at Wellesley College, double-majoring in Economics and English.
I do not have any previous experience with investing, which is part of the reason why I
would love to establish an SWS chapter on campus. Not only do I want to grasp the
fundamentals of investing, but also I would like to take advantage of the hands-on
opportunities to fully understand the concepts and experience it firsthand. As Founding
Team Leader and head of the Infrastructure team, I hope to develop Wellesley SWS into an
organization that flourishes and leaves a lasting impression on students’ college careers and
lives. Last year, I held the positions of Co-President of the traditional Japanese drumming
ensemble, Co-Social Chair of Asian Student Union, and Librarian of the Chamber Music
Society. I am currently the Artistic Director of the same drumming ensemble.
Irene Pang is a junior at Wellesley College, who is pursuing a major degree in Economics
and a minor degree in Music. She does not have prior experience in the field of investing,
but has first-hand exposure to the field of marketing, public relations, and advertising
through her various internship experiences (at Ogilvy Public Relations, Estée Lauder
Companies, Johnson & Johnson, and Warner Music Group) and on-campus involvements.
At Wellesley, Irene is currently the Publicity Director of Styleta, a national non-profit fashion
organization, and the Public Relations Chair of Taiwanese Cultural Organization. From her
off-campus and on-campus experiences, Irene has gained valuable marketing, crisis
management, public relations, media monitoring, and social networking skills. She hopes to
broaden her knowledge on investing through SWS.
HeeSoo Chung is a junior at Wellesley College double-majoring in Economics and
Psychology. She is from Korea and grew up in Switzerland, India, Korea, Germany, Holland,
and Singapore. She does not have previous experience with investing, but would love to
learn more about it by becoming involved with SWS. HeeSoo is involved in various
leadership roles on campus. She is currently the Vice-President of Psychology Club, CoEvents Coordinator of GenerAsians Magazine, Class of 2013 Representative on the
Academic Review Board, and an Academic Peer Tutor. HeeSoo also has experience with
website designing, and created the current website for the Wellesley College Disability
Services. She is interested in combining her knowledge in Economics and Psychology to go
into marketing/advertising. She is looking forward to this opportunity to learn more about
investing and finance.
Cecilia Tai is a junior at Wellesley majoring in Economics and minoring in Mathematics.
She does not have previous experience with investing, but she has been involved with the
Investment Society on campus and regularly follows the Asian and European markets
through the Wall Street Journal. She is excited about learning more about investment
through involvement with SWS. In addition to investment and economics, Cecilia is also
interested in economic development and social justice. She is currently the Special Events
Chair for Advocates for North Korean Human Rights, a human rights advocacy group with
the goal of raising more comprehensive awareness about the humanitairan crisis in North
Korea, as well as the Chinese Department Liaison and Community Service Chair of the
Chinese Students’ Association. Over the summer, Cecilia interned at Asian Women in
Business, a New York based nonprofit organization with the mission of supporting and
empowering minority women entrepreneurs and professionals in the business world. This
experience has further strengthened her resolve to work towards building a stronger support
system between women interested in investment and business.
Carnegie Mellon University
Amy Kao is a senior at the Tepper School of Business majoring in Business Administration
with a concentration in General Management and double minoring in Policy & Management
and Chinese. She is currently the President of Carnegie Mellon Business Association and
founded the People-To-People International Carnegie Mellon University Chapter as a
freshman. She was recently inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and named
an Andrew Carnegie Scholar. Amy’s interest in Finance sparked while studying abroad at
Oxford University in the United Kingdom and attending the Women’s Insight Program at
Morgan Stanley in London. As one of the top ten students in the UK to win the Gateway
Financial Newspaper’s Investment Banking challenge, Amy first experienced the financial
services industry through her internship at Citigroup in Capital Markets Origination in New
York. She has a passion for investing and currently invests in international real estate in
emerging markets.
April Jianto was born and raised in San Jose, CA. She is a sophomore majoring in Business
Administration and doubling in Decision Sciences. Other extracurricular activities she is
involved in include serving as an analyst for Financial Frontline Society, an organization
offering a forum for market news discussion and a Liaison Chair for Students in Free
Enterprise (SIFE). She is not only actively involved in her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma,
but also is in the National Panhellenic Council as the Vice President of Recruitment. In her
spare time, April loves to play lacrosse and hang out with friends. Her interest in investment
and finance has led to her to actively seek opportunities to learn more about the industry and
one day work in the financial services industry.
Zoe Fitzgerald is a freshman business administration major planning to focus on finance
and minor in psychology. She was born on a Navy base in Patuxent River, Maryland, and
was raised in San Diego, Tokyo, Albany, and Los Angeles. At Carnegie Mellon, she is
extremely involved in cmBA (Carengie Mellon Business Administration). This club organizes
events for students studying within the Tepper School of Business. While a member of this
club, Zoe organized and planned the Tepper Fashion Show and is highly involved in the
planning of all of the club’s events. She is also an avid runner. Zoe is very interested in the
finance industry, and this coming summer plans to intern for Nissan Motors.
Shally Madhok is a freshman in business administration aiming towards a major in
computational finance. She was born in America but completed high school in India where
she was greatly involved in learning about Finance. She topped the world in her Accounting
& Finance IGCSE exams and also studied Business and Management Higher Level as a part
of the IB program. At CMU she pursues this interest through the Undergraduate Investment
Club (UIC), where she is responsible for directing the Spring Stock Pitch Competition
alongside leading an Equity Research project on Yahoo. She is also an active member of the
student government, where she is on the board of the Committee of Student Organizations
(CoSO) and monitors the recognition process of new clubs that help improve student life on
campus. Before coming to CMU, Shally also interned at NDTV Profit, an Indian business
news channel that evaluates stock market conditions, and further plans to intern here again
for the summer after her freshman year.
Melissa Dileo is a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University, majoring in Business
Administration with an intended track in finance. While in high school she founded a walk
to support a local crisis center, demonstrating her experience with planning and other
fundraising events.
Ronny Ho is a sophomore Business Administration major at Carnegie Mellon University’s
Tepper School of Business. Born and raised in New York City, she has always had a
particular interest in the finance services industry. At Carnegie Mellon University, she is
involved in a variety of organizations on campus, serving as a chair on Activities Board, Vice
President of Public Relations in the Carnegie Mellon Business Association, and a board
member in the International Student Union. Furthermore, she is an active member of the
Delta Gamma Fraternity. She also serves as a mentor for freshmen as they transition into the
college lifestyle. This summer, Ronny plans on studying abroad in Europe.
Tejasvi Samala is a sophomore in Business Administration majoring in Finance and
minoring in Computer Science. She has been a part of the executive board of the
Undergraduate Finance Association on Carnegie Mellon’s campus as well as the executive
board for CMU Solutions, a premier, hands-on consulting group since the launch of her
college career. Her prior investment experience involves the recent purchase of Bank of
America stocks. Her enthusiasm to make wise investment decisions lies in her interest of
being an independent, financial decision-maker. She has held summer positions as a financial
accountant for a New York based jewelry company after her freshman year. Her vision to
empower children through specialized learning motivated her to start a tutoring business,
TutorMe Princeton. Currently, she is looking forward to spending a semester abroad in
Germany at WHU (Otto Beisheim School of Management) along with a summer position at
The Boeing Company as a finance intern for the summer of 2012.
University of Chicago
Elise Wummer is a second year student majoring in economics from San Francisco,
California. At the University of Chicago, she participates in the Chicago Careers in Business
Program, the varsity track and field and cross-country teams, the Women’s Athletic
Association and is a student leader of Calvert House. This past summer she worked as a
technical writing intern for Life Technologies Corporation in Carlsbad, California where she
broadened her knowledge of the biotechnology industry.
Shuli Song is a second year at the University of Chicago, where she is currently majoring in
economics. She has a strong interest in both finance and consulting, and is hoping to pursue
one of those career paths in the future. She is excited about Smart Woman Securities and the
opportunity to bring a great organization to UChicago undergraduates. Having lived in
Colorado for the seven years before college, she loves to ski and go hiking in her spare time.
Lucy Li is currently a second year at the University of Chicago, where she is utterly enjoying
herself and studying anything that interests her. So far, she has not yet decided what she
wants to do in the future, so is currently exploring all options. Hoping to learn more about
the financial world, she is excited about starting and being a part of Smart Women Securities.

My name is Melissa Chanthalangsy, and I hail from Memphis, Tennessee. I am a secondyear undergraduate, double-majoring in Political Science and Environmental Studies. I am
interested in the consulting and marketing sectors of the business world. Besides that, I
enjoy cooking, swimming, and globetrotting.
Kang Wang is double majoring in Economics and Political Science in the college. She spent
this past summer working for Ogilvy & Mather, the world leading advertising agency, as an
assistant planner in the Kraft Food team and Revlon team. Currently she is thinking about a
future career in consulting and marketing. In her spare time, she serves for the International
Student Admission Committee under the college admissions office and is actively involved
in the campus business events. Coming from Beijing China, Kang has a great passion to
explore different culture and life, and is planning to study political science for one year in
London School of Economics this September.
Joanna Kadieva is a political science major at the University of Chicago. While she was not
traditionally interested in the field of finance, growing up in New York City made her
painfully aware of this male-dominated industry. Because Joanna is very interested in law and
women's history, the female empowerment aspect of SWS drew her to this amazing
organization. Financial literacy is so important in this day and age, and she is eager to begin
working with the SWS team in education the young women of the University of Chicago.
Gettysburg College
Katie Burke ’13 (Kinnelon, NJ): Katie is a Psychology major with a
double minor in Business and Philosophy, and she has no prior
experience with investing. Katie works in the Office of Student Activities
as the Orientation Programs Assistant. A member of Chi Omega, she has
served as Treasurer of the Panhellenic Executive board for a year and
was recently elected to serve as President in 2012. Through her different
positions, she works with a multitude of clubs, organizations, and
administrative offices on campus to plan various events like Orientation,
Family and Homecoming weekend, and philanthropy events.
Katy Compton ’14 (Malvern, PA): Katy is an Organization &
Management Studies major with a double minor in Economics and
Business. Katy is also a member of Chi Omega, where she co-manages
the sorority's marketing cabinet. Katy is a Big Brothers Big Sisters
mentor as well as an El Centro tutor. She is also a tour guide for the
Admissions Office. In January, she participated in the Finance Career
Immersion trip in New York City through the Center for Career
Development.
Kelley Furman ’13 (Blue Bell, PA): Kelley is an Organization &
Management Studies major with a Business minor, and has no prior
experience with investing. Kelley is a member of Chi Omega as well as
St. Jude Up ‘Till Dawn. Last year she was also the theme house leader for
the Special Olympics House where she acted as a liaison between the
Residence Life Staff, the members of the house, and the Special
Olympics of Adams County. This year she is on the executive board for
Chi Omega, where she manages career development, marketing,
community service, and other specific cabinets for the sorority.
Sam Gailey ’15 (Columbia, MD): Sam plans to graduate with a double
major in Psychology and Organization & Management Studies. She has no
prior investment experience. Sam is the co-business manager of The
Gettsyburgian (our school’s newspaper), and she is responsible for
advertisements and circulation to generate revenue for the newspaper.
Katherine Taylor ’13 (Westfield, NJ): Katherine is an Organization &
Management Studies major with a double minor in Business and
Educational Studies. She has no prior experience with investing.
Katherine is a Student Assistant for the Management department at
Gettysburg College, where she works closely with the professors. She is
also a member of Chi Omega, where she holds a chair position. This past
fall she was an Orientation Leader for the class of 2015, where she helped
transition new students into the Gettysburg community.
Marquette University
Elizabeth Buckton is a Finance and Economics major at Marquette University class of
2013. She was recently accepted into the Applied Invest Management (AIM) Program and
was assigned to the Healthcare sector. Elizabeth currently serves as the President of the
Financial Management Association (FMA) and is very enthusiastic about leading teams. Last
summer she worked at Bianco Research, LLC in Chicago. She had a wonderful opportunity
to work with a leading macroeconomic researcher, Jim Bianco. Elizabeth is passionate about
the markets and hopes to run her own hedge fund one day.
Maggie Wanner, of Schaumburg IL, is a transfer student from Harper College in Palatine,
IL where she received an associate of science degree. She started at Marquette University in
the fall of 2011 to study Finance, and was accepted into the Applied Investment
Management Program. Maggie is involved in Financial Management Association, MU
Investment Club, Marquette Wind Ensemble. Maggie has been managing her college fund
since she started high school. Upon graduation, she hopes to start a career in either wealth
management or equity research.
Atena Liu is a junior majoring in finance and business economics in the College of
Business. She grew up in Beijing, China and came to Marquette University pursuing an
undergraduate degree. She had internship experiences in a both a mutual fund and
investment banking. As for campus activities, Atena co-founded the Marquette Bowling
Club with a friend. She is also an active member of the Marquette Economics Association.
Last fall, she was admitted into the Applied Investment Management program and is hoping
to dive deeper into the realm of investment management.
Ellen Toshach transferred to Marquette University from Washtenaw Community College
in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a transfer 2nd semester freshman, Ellen started at Marquette as a
business economic major but is now studying finance and international business with a
minor in German. Ellen plans to study abroad fall 2012 in Germany. Currently, Ellen is a
sophomore working as a financial intern with Executive Benefits Network, on campus with
Alumni Memorial Union security and is continuing as a full time student. Ellen enjoys
classical violin, Michigan football and international relations. Ellen grew up homeschooled in
a family of 10. At Marquette, Ellen is involved in Financial Management Association and the
MU—Go-Getters.
Alice Ogles, a sophomore from Wheaton, Illinois, is a Finance and Economics major at
Marquette University. Alice is involved in many activities on campus, including the Financial
Management Association, Marquette Go-Getters, and Sigma Kappa sorority. She also
participates in various service programs, such as Midnight Run, Hunger Clean Up, and Relay
for Life. This winter, Alice was offered a position with Executive Benefits Network and is
currently working as a Finance and Marketing intern in downtown Milwaukee. Alice plans
to attend a study abroad program in Rome this summer.
Mona Syed ’14 is from Libertyville, Illinois and is currently pursuing a degree in Finance at
Marquette University. Last summer she was an Administrative Intern for the Milwaukee
Justice Center, where she assisted self-represented litigants of the Milwaukee area on civil
legal matters. She currently works in the Finance Business Law department at Foley &
Lardner LLP. On campus, Mona is involved with the Marquette University Go-Getters, the
Financial Management Association, and has served on the executive board of Marquette’s
Colleges Against Cancer. Since high school she has worked to raise funds for cancer
research through the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and served as a Team Captain
last year. In her free time, Mona enjoys golfing, sketching, and traveling. Going forward,
Mona hopes to continue to give back to the Milwaukee community, return to China for a
semester abroad, and contribute to the success of Marquette’s Smart Women Securities
chapter.
My name is Stefanie Yordan, and I am currently a freshman at Marquette University, where
I intend to double major in Finance and Accounting, accompanied with a minor in Spanish.
I went to high school at Divine Savior Holy Angels, a private all-girls school in Milwaukee,
and spent my childhood in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Since coming to Marquette, I have been
involved with Financial Management Association (FMA). Through this club, I have had the
amazing opportunity to meet many students as business-focused as I am, and my
relationships will only strengthen as we co-found a Smart Woman Securities chapter here at
Marquette. Being a freshman in a leadership position throughout the process has been a
dream come true for me, and I cannot wait to watch and experience the growth of SWS:
Marquette Chapter.
NYU
Doris Li is from Austin, Texas and is currently a sophomore at NYU Stern, majoring in
Finance and Economics and minoring in French Studies. She has held a variety of internship
positions, from an Internet start-up company to a private equity advisory firm. She is also
very involved in other organizations on campus, such as the Alpha Kappa Psi professional
fraternity and Pi Beta Phi National Fraternity for Women. Through Smart Woman
Securities, Doris hopes to use her past skills and experience to create a better learning
environment for herself and other undergraduate women interested in investing. She is really
excited to be a part of SWS and see it grow from the ground up. Outside of business, Doris
is also interested in literature, art, classical piano, and cooking.
Leticia Murakami is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, but has lived in Maryland for the
past 7 years. She is a freshman at NYU Stern, majoring in Management and Finance. She
first became interested in the investment world after attending meetings of the Stern
Investment Analysis Group. As a first year student, she is still unfamiliar with many financial
concepts but hopes to deepen her understanding through her contact with other students
and faculty and through Smart Woman Securities. Leticia hopes to be able to share with
other undergraduate women the knowledge she gains through her studies and her own
involvement in SWS. In her free time, she enjoys figure skating, dancing, and reading.
Abigail Pereira is currently a sophomore at Stern whose interest in investing first developed
when she joined the Stern Investment Analysis Group. She is extremely involved in the IAG
as well as in Stern’s Student Council. Although she has limited previous investment
knowledge, she has worked to deepen her understanding by actively attending IAG meetings
and workshops, presenting two stock presentations at IAG, and by reading. During the
school year, Abigail has interned within the financial services industry. Abigail was also
selected to participate in the Athena Collaborative Group. She believes that starting SWS
would be an excellent learning opportunity for her and enable her to help facilitate future
incoming undergraduate women.
Sarah Shin was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. She is currently a sophomore at NYU
Stern and in double majoring in Finance and Economics, and minoring in music. She had
held internships in investment banking, executive search, and investor relations in addition
to participating in several NYU organizations, both within and outside of Stern. After
discovering the need for a women-focused investing organization, she hopes that the launch
of SWS will create a network within, and beyond the NYU alumni base to improve unity and
increase the power of women in finance. She hopes to witness the growth of SWS from a
starting chapter into a fully- developed force that will foster an interest in careers in financial
institutions for young women. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, yoga, piano, cello,
sudoku, and the NFL.
Emily Tung is currently a freshman at NYU Stern, hoping to concentrate in Finance and
International Business. Interested in learning more about personal finance as well as
investing, she is excited to gain first hand experience from the “learning-by-doing” model
that Smart Woman Securities promotes while helping other undergraduate women become
involved too. Emily hopes SWS will allow other women on campus to become more
comfortable and confident in their own future investing. Outside of Smart Woman
Securities, Emily is a tutor for the NYU chapter of America Reads/America Counts and
participates in various other NYU organizations such as International Business Association.
Her interests include food blogs, traveling, social entrepreneurship, and cooking.
Jessica Yang is a freshman majoring in Finance at New York University--Leonard N. Stern
School of Business. She is super excited to be part of SWS. As someone still in the process
of learning more about financial markets, Jessica was drawn to SWS by the greater
educational opportunities for women to learn more about investing during their
undergraduate years. She is looking forward to being part of the movement to empower a
new generation of women in the financial industry. Outside of SWS, Jessica is the Marketing
Chair of Professional Development Society at NYU Stern and a member of NYU Shine
Acapella. She is also very interested in studying languages and is pursuing a minor in
Spanish.
Lisa Zhang is a senior at Stern, majoring in finance and marketing. Her interests in
investing and finance stemmed from a combination of involvement with the Stern
Investment Analysis Group and her past summer internship experience at Goldman Sachs
within the investment banking division. Lisa is also actively involved as an NYU Admissions
Ambassador and co-founder/President of the Asian Fusion Dance team at NYU. Starting
up an organization from scratch has been an incredibly challenging yet rewarding experience,
and Lisa hopes to apply the skills, knowledge and experiences gained to this chapter. Outside
of Stern, Lisa was selected as a recipient to participate in the Athena Collaborative Group -a non-profit organization whose mission is to expand the population of women entering and
thriving in finance.
