MAKEUP WORK
It is the student’s responsibility to find out what he/she missed while absent. Makeup work not received
within a school week of your missed days will be marked down a letter grade each day it is late. FIVE
DAYS should be plenty of time for this work to be completed. If there’s a problem, you need to come see
me.
HOMEWORK
Students will receive homework assignments every Tuesday and Thursday, unless otherwise noted by the
teacher. These homework assignments will not be lengthy, with most assignments taking only 10-15
minutes. The purpose of the assignments is for students to reflect on concepts important to English II
class and practice ideas that they will see on future tests (EOC, ON DEMAND, and ACT). Homework
will be considered a formative assessment and used a tool to guide student understanding.
EXTRA CREDIT
There will only be two opportunities for extra credit throughout the year. There will be bonus questions
found on tests. These questions will be based on the content/purpose of the assessment. The second
opportunity will occur once a quarter and will be a poetry explication (written analysis) of a given poem.
Extra credit will not exceed 3% of the student’s overall grade.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY AND PLAGIARISM
All persons involved in academic dishonesty will be disciplined in accordance with school regulations
and procedures. You will get in trouble for plagiarism—even if you do not intend to cheat—by failing to
correctly indicate places where you are making use of the work of another. We will talk more about citing
sources throughout the year.
SPECIAL NOTE
Although this class will be challenging, I will do my best to make it as fun as possible. If you give me
effort, I will notice it, and I promise you will learn a lot. If you ever need help with anything, feel free to
let me know, and I will be glad to help you. If you get frustrated, please remember that you are a
SUCCESS and can do anything you put your mind to. WELCOME TO MY CLASS!!
