GOLDEN LINES
 There are several Golden Lines within
Chapter 10 that generalize the Baba and
Amir of America.
 Find a Golden line for Baba and a Golden
line for Amir.
 In a paragraph for each, explain how the
line you chose illustrates the comparison
of the character from Kabul to America.

GOLDEN LINES – TEACHER EXAMPLE
In Chapter 10 of The Kite Runner, Baba struggles
to acclimate to his new home in California.
Amir says,“A year and a half since we’d stepped
off the Boeing from Peshawar, and Baba was still
adjusting.” Baba has difficulty adapting to
American culture. He refuses to embrace some
of the customs of America, such as learning to
speak English. He finds every part of California
inferior to Kabul.
