†Plenary Session One
†Escaping the Church T.R.A.P.
Part One: With all the pressures to “succeed” in ministry- and the myriad of methods and formulas that
guarantee that success-our thinking about the Kingdom of God can become skewed. If we aren’t careful,
we’ll find ourselves trapped- trying to build the church with tools that are actually at odds with the
Kindom of God. “Escaping the Church T.R.A.P.” calls us to recalibrate our thinking and take a fresh look
at what God actually says about His church and how He will build it. Part One focuses on the first two
letters of the T.R.A.P. acronym: T-the TRUTH of God’s character; and R-RESULTS.
Part Two: (1:10 PM – 1:55 PM) focuses on the last two letters of the T.R.A.P. acronym:
A – APPROACH; and P – PERSPECTIVE

What is Church?
Dr. Neal Cox
More and more Christians are beginning to ask serious questions about what constitutes the Church of
Jesus Christ. Many Christians have grown weary of playing Church and are more interested in being

the nature of the true Church of Jesus Christ, then please join us for a discussion about the
characteristics of the true nature of the Church.

7.
Generational Discipleship: Three Problems, One Prescription
Mr. David Womack
The roles of the home and the church have changed over the years, in most cases they have actually
reversed. We out-source discipleship to the church, or the youth group, or the children’s pastor. Even
as adults we look to the church to disciple us; and while the church should be involved...there has to be
personal responsibility on our part. As ministry has been handed down from generation to generation
through the years we’ve misunderstood how God intended discipleship to be done. The D6 Philosophy
of Generational Discipleship takes us back to God’s Plan in Deuteronomy 6.
8.
Making Jesus REAL to Kids
Ms. Lisa Burney
Faith is not a subject, but the way we pass it on to the next generation can make it feel far too
academic. And the risk of academic ministries? Boredom! In this workshop you will learn how to use

alone, is half the battle. During this session, participants will learn what to expect during of
determining eligibility in special education, and will learn about each area of eligibility found within
the guidelines of IDEA and Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities (NC Policy).

Creative Ways of Teaching Out of the Box
Mrs. Sherry Brown
In today’s society, we are being trained (young and old) “not to think” for ourselves. We’re

A hammer can be used to build or destroy depending upon the thinking and training of the user. We

Strong Church: Skilled at Reaching Diverse People Part 1
James and Lynette Cottle
Does the Church have a responsibility to the many migrating peoples to their neighborhoods? If so,
how does a Church in the West open its doors and share the gospel effectively to people of different
cultures? One of the first steps is to gain understanding of the worldview and values of other people.
Second, the western believer must contextualize the message of scripture so that it resonates with the
hearer and communicates the need for the gospel. This workshop will assist the attendees in
understanding their own default thinking about the gospel, the cultural and worldview differences of
people from other countries and will gain a fresh\Biblical gospel presentation to share with those
around us.
6.
Discipleship Lessons from a Box Office Disappointment
Mr. David Womack

practical steps for real-life, real-time discipleship in the Church and home.

Traditional verses Contemporary: Bridging the Gap

divide. This session explores how we can “make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit” as we
consider incorporating more modern music and worship service elements.
9.

Dr. Chris Skinner
This workshop focuses on the distinctive literary and theological features of Matthew’s Gospel, with
specific emphasis on the narrative development of Matthew’s story of Jesus.
10. Overview of the book of Romans
The Reverend Buddy Sasser
In this powerful book, the Apostle Paul moderates a civil dispute between Jews and gentiles on how
salvation is received…and both totally missed the point. Salvation is not obtained by an arduous
keeping of civil law nor by the failure at one jot or tittle eliminates the rewards of strenuous efforts.
Salvation is best defined as a condition of the heart, rather than an obedience of the law.
