You have your church life, your home and your professional life to juggle. There is even the phrase, work – life balance, used to describe the ideal distribution of time spent on each. The imbalance is enough to make you yearn for the end of the work week, which for most of us is Friday. We might even utter the common acronym TGIF, most commonly translated as Thank God It’s Friday. We must be careful though, or we might end up wishing our lives away. As I was impatiently driving to work last week, I approached a church that had TGIF on its marquis. Naturally, I assumed that they were having a special celebration on that Friday, but as I got closer, I saw the words Today God Is First. I immediately changed my mindset. Philippians 4:6 was placed on my heart and I felt a sense of quiet relief. This month’s scripture, Matthew 6:31 is also comforting. If you put God first every day, there is no need to yearn for Fridays. You’ll find yourself enjoying and celebrating every day that you have breath. So let’s try to make every day TGIF making sure we are putting God first. Voices of Faith Ministries – East Pastor Carlos Marshall 3221 McGinnis Ferry Rd.
