The activities pertain to the academic subject areas of reading and language arts. We read from different themes. The themes are used to address FCAT benchmarks as well as to better help you experience reading different types of literature. Obeying the rules and procedures Traffic Light Good Time Ticket/Yellow Post-It Traffic Light Always obey the rules and procedures!!! • The traffic light is located in the teacher’s corner, which is next to my desk. • Red Light. If I call your name 2 times or you break 2 or more rules and procedures, you will move your cloth pin to the red light. You receive no good time ticket or yellow post-it for the day. • Yellow Light. If I call your name 1 time or you break 1 rule or procedure , you will move your cloth pin to the yellow light. You will receive a yellow post-it for the day. • Green Light. If you follow the rules/procedures your name will remain on the green light. Exiting the room • Make sure that your desk is cleared of any materials. • Look around your desk and pick up any trash from the floor. • Take all the materials that you will need to your next class. • Line up in the line quietly. • No one should ever talk while in the line. Standing in line • Always look ahead of you • Never look to the sides • Standing in line is NOT THE TIME TO TALK WITH FRIENDS OR OTHERS THAT PASS YOU BY • Always make sure you are quiet, you need to be able to listen to my instructions. Entering and exiting the cafeteria • You are to always enter the cafeteria quietly. • Only I will dismiss you from the cafeteria. • DO NOT GET UP from your seat until I tell you to do so. • You will line up quietly against the wall, once we have exited the cafeteria. Special Guideline • This classroom is a “No Whining Zone.” That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason. • This is a time for you to receive an education that will help you achieve your future goals. • This is, however, a “Learning Zone.” You will be be able to learn in a classroom that is caring and respectful. You must check out the book by completing the classroom library check-out binder procedures. In the classroom library check-out binder, you must write the name of the book, the class period of your class, and the genre of the book. If you need help, please see our appointed classroom librarian. If you do not follow these procedures, you will not be allowed to check out books. Entering and exiting the computer lab • You are to always enter the computer lab quietly. • DO NOT USE THE COMPUTER UNTIL I instruct you do so. You need to listen to the learning activity for the day. • Always follow our classroom rules while at the computer rules. • Failure to adhere to these rules will cause you not to participate in the computer lab activity for the day.
