Butterflies use trees for shelter and also resting places. After a long
flight, the Monarchs need their rest. When they are resting, rain might
come, and the trees will protect them.
Some people are cutting down the forests in Mexico that the
butterflies rely on. Soon the butterflies will die out because they don’t
have places to rest and use as shelter.
Milkweed plants
What is milkweed? Milkweed is the special plant that butterflies eggs live on.
Monarch butterflies need this plant to live. Their life depends on it. But, there is
one small problem. Milkweed is disappearing. You can help this by planting
milkweed in your garden.
Just one plant can bring an adult butterfly home, lay eggs, and make the Monarch
Butterfly population bigger.
If you do this it can make a big change in this world!
