Corporate Support Stream Position Title: Human Resource Advisor Classification: APS 4 Reports to: Director – Human Resource Team Direct Reports: N/A Agency size: around 500 FTE at present Location: Geelong Position Overview Human Resource Team The Human Resource (HR) team delivers enterprise-wide HR services that make DisabilityCare Australia a sustainable, open and accountable organisation of high integrity with a skilled and engaged workforce in a safe and healthy work environment. The team undertakes varied workforce planning and broader human resource management activities with the aim to assist DisabilityCare Australia to manage its workforce and contributes insight into workforce issues through the interpretation and analysis of workforce data and information. Job Description The APS 4 HR Advisor will have experience as a human resources generalist with a strong team focus and assist in the delivery of day to day operations of the HR team. Under general guidance you will assist in the provision of a broad range of HR administrative and operation support functions including; the delivery of organisational HR strategies and projects; recruitment, selection and onboarding processes; HR metrics reporting; Probation and Performance Management; and Learning and Development management. The successful candidate will be a team player with good planning, prioritising and time management skills and with a high attention to detail whilst providing accurate and timely support services to internal stakeholders. Well-developed research and analytical skills including demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and policy advice on APS human resource management will be an advantage. Duties The duties of the APS 4 Human Resource Advisor will include; Undertaking the less complex provision of advice on a range of HR issues including performance management, induction of new employees and HR policy and procedural advice. Under guidance, provide a high standard of HR operational service delivery including assisting the HR team in providing advice and support to managers and staff on a range of HR activities, organisational development and employee related issues; One big difference to lots of lives. Assist in the implementation of key HR organisational initiatives and projects including recruitment and onboarding; probation; performance management; work, health and safety; learning and development; and workforce reporting. Assist in the management of computer based applications for the work area and preparation of HR metrics reports. Liaise and negotiate with internal staff and clients to ensure effective delivery of information. Be accountable for the accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, employees and work collaboratively with team members to achieve business outcomes. Undertake less complex HR research and analysis of metrics data, HR and people related issues. Assist with the HR team administrative and support functions. Personal Attributes The APS 4 Human resource Advisor will have demonstrated the following attributes: Understanding of legislation and procedures related to the Australian Public Service human resource management practices. Good oral and written communication skills with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate in a confidential and sensitive manner with excellent stakeholder management skills. Able to maintain relationships and to communicate with others regarding HR matters. Able to respond to and prioritise competing and often urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner while maintaining high work standards and attention to detail. Sound judgement and the ability to handle less complex and time-critical tasks across a range of HR functional areas. Well-developed analytical skills and a proven ability to achieve results and manage competing demands within a dynamic environment. Experience in undertaking human resource activities in the workplace. A good understanding of, and proficient in Office Software particularly with Outlook, Word, Excel and HR reporting systems. Qualifications Essential: Desirable: The successful applicant will have demonstrated sound experience in dealing with HR management issues in an Australian Public Service context. Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related discipline (or equivalent) combined with relevant experience in HR management in an Australian Public Service context highly desirable.
