APUSH – Exam Review Matching
Matching/Timeline Instructions

Complete the matching section by putting the number of the descriptor that matches the
term in the blank.

Terms are alphabetically listed to make it a bit easier. However, some terms may seem
out of alphabetical order, so look carefully (i.e. “Annexation of Texas” rather than Texas,
or Battles of Lexington/concord rather than Lexington/Concord.

Pay attention to the descriptors. It is imperative that you know this information for the AP
Exam.

Write out the term from the student term list on the date on the timeline where it belongs,
as shown in the example.

When you write the term you should consider the meaning to the term, what caused it,
what resulted from it, and what broader trend it could serve as an example of.

When you write the term you should think about additional historic terminology that you
can associate with it (i.e. Bank War {pet banks, removal of deposits, “The bank is trying
to kill me but I will kill it’, Nicholas Biddle, etc.).

The purpose of this exercise is for you to develop a sense of chronological flow. That
requires that you actively think about what terms are and where they belong rather than
just passively listing them. Passively done this exercise is largely busy-work. Actively
done it can help prepare you for the AP exam.
