 Pr can't violate hospitality law so he asks B to carry a letter for him to his
father-in-law, King Iobates of Lycia
 letter says 'please kill the messenger, he tried to rape your daughter'
 Iob. can't violate hospitality; asks B to kill Chimaera
Chimaera
 Chimaera -one of Typhon & Echidna's kids [Cerberus' sibling]; 3 heads -goat,
lion, snake/ dragon OR front-lion, middle-goat, back/ tail -dragon/ snake [a
chimaera scientifically has 2 sets of DNA]
 B happily agrees, prays to Athena for help [maybe Pos. too]
 golden bridle, advice, spring
 Pegasus [Medusa & Pos's blood offspring] -winged horse-comes to drink, B
harnesses him
 Pegasus flies, B shoots Chimaera
Back in Lycia
 Iobates still has to get B killed
 sends B against enemy tribe
 send Lycian elite troops after him
 'B must be favored by the gods, he should marry my daughter Philinoë'
 Proëtus' wife [see above] kills self in frustration that B married her sister
 Bellerophon & Philinoë produce 2 boys, 2 girls: Isander, Hippolochus,
Laodameia, Deïdameia; rule Lycia after Iobates

 makes Pegasus fly up Mt Olympus [HUBRIS!!]
 angry Zeus sends gadfly to bite Pegasus
