This story is about a man named Okonkwo.
He is a respected leader in Umuofia.
Unlike his father Unoka.
He has three wives and kids.
He accidently killed a 16 years old boy.
That’s when things go crazy.
And he decided to hanged himself.
His name is Chinua
Achebe.
 He was born on
November 21, 1930.
 Died on March 21,
2013
 He was raised by
Christian parents.
 Won a scholarship for
undergraduates
studies.







Unoka- Okonkwo’s father
Ekwefi- Okonkwo’s second wife
Nwoye- Okonkwo’s son
Ezinma- Okonkwo’s daughter
Ikemefuna- Okonkwo adopted son
And Okonkwo first wife and third wife.






Okonkwo becomes famous at the age of 18.
He defeated the Amalinze the cat.
His reputation has grown and spread.
Okonkwo despises his late father, Unoka.
His father was a failure.
Who died in dept.






This is when Okonkwo ends up with Ikemefuna.
Umuofia people allow kids to play at night.
But they fear Umuofia.
That’s why they avoid war.
A virgin girl was given to a stranger.
And a boy name Ikemefuna to Okonkwo.






Okonkwo adopted Ikemefuna.
He took cared of him.
He loved him as his only child.
And Ikemefuna also loved Okonkwo as his owned
father.
He obeyed him.
And he shows him respect.







Okonkwo didn’t inherit anything from his father.
His father has such bad harvests.
Unoka got sick with a disease.
He was not allowed to die at his home.
So he died in the Evil Forest.
Okonkwo makes a sharecropping with a
wealthy man.
But a flood came and few of his yams rotted.
Okonkwo is most highly ranked man.
 He proved himself during kinsmen
meeting.
 He shows sympathy for men.
 The priest bashes him for violating rules.
 He was asked to do a sacrifice.
 And so he did.
 People thought he’s proud of himself.

The Feast of Yam came.
 Okonkwo’s family prepared a lot of
foods.
 Okonkwo accused Ekwefi for killing a
banana.
 He threatens her with his gun.
 But everyone else was happy.








A wrestling matches happened in Umuofia.
The villagers were there.
Maduka is the son of Obierika.
Obierika is Okonkwo’s friend.
Maduka was one of the wrestlers, he won.
The match between Ikezu and Okafo went on.
And Okafo won, and people praise him.







3 years Ikemefuna has stayed with Okonkwo.
But, people wanted him to leave.
Okonkwo want to be known as strong.
That he agreed with the people.
They didn’t just let him leave.
In fact, they killed him.
Okonkwo was one of the witnesses.






Okonkwo suffered a lot for Ikemefuna.
He didn’t eat nor sleep.
He decided to visit his friend.
His friend name is Obierika.
He heard about Ikemefuna.
He wasn’t really happy about it.






Okonkwo had a great time with Obierika.
He felt good after visiting Obierika.
One morning he woke up.
With Ekwefi standing by his door.
Telling him Ezinma was sick.
He immediately gathered herbs for medicine.





A ceremony for men happened.
Women watched from the peripheries.
During the ceremony, nine Umuofia Gods
appeared.
They were called the “ Egwugwu.”
The main God is the Evil Forest.





Ezinma recovered from her fever.
Chielo came in and took her.
Ekwefi secretly followed them.
She didn’t stop until Okonkwo showed up.
They couldn’t found Chielo and Ezinma.
In chapter 12, the people were celebrating.
 They celebrate the marriage of Obierika’s
daughter.
 Chielo also returned Ezinma in chapter twelve.
 In chapter 13, the people suffered.
 For one o the eldest died.
 During his funeral, Okonkwo accidently killed a
boy.
 And got exile from Umuofia.








Okonkwo went to his motherland in chapter 14.
Uchendu, his uncle welcomed him.
chapter 15, second year of Okonkwo’s exile.
Obierika visited him.
Chapter 16, Obierika visited again Okonkwo.
Telling about Nwoye.
That he’s one of the Converts.







In chapter 17, the white missionaries came in.
Wondering where to build a church.
Uchendu gave them Evil forest.
In chapter 18, missionaries bothers the clan.
The christians in Mbanta has raised.
In chapter 19,Okonkwo’s freedom start.
It was time for him to leave.






Chapter 20, Okonkwo lost his high position
When he went back to Umuofia.
Chapter 21, missionaries brought good stuff.
They build a stores, with goods, etc..
Chapter 22, Okonkwo wanted to killed the
Missionaries.
But he didn’t.







Chapter 23, Okonkwo and other were arrested.
Okonkwo plan to killed the white men.
Chapter 24, sneakily went to their homes.
Try to made a war with white men.
But they couldn’t again.
Last chapter Okonkwo hanged himself.
For he knows he lost the war.

