Activity #1:
What is the most popular domain that you see? Is the intention behind these sites to educate you or
to sell you something?
My topic of research is Forensic Anthropology. The most popular domains are organizational and
educational. I think the sites are trying to teach and provide information about the topic.
Comparing the two searches, which results do you think would be more useful when you are
conducting research? Why might the second set of results be more trustworthy?
The first search came from a variety of organization that might have been scams or provided
information for their purposes. The second search showed me government sites only. In these sites
there were more information with more references. The information came from universities or
government sites like the FBI. The second set might have more trustworthy because it only includes sites
with official credentials.
Activity #2:
How might you narrow your search to find what you are looking for? Write down the title and call
number of a relevant resource, and explain the steps you took to find it.
At first I found the book called: “Forensic anthropology: 2000 to 2010 / edited by Sue Black and Eilidh
Ferguson”. The call number was GN 69.8 F645 2011. I wanted to find a reference that provided me with
aspects of the career like growth outlook salary and other specifics like those. Using last assigntment , I
pulled a book called : “Career Opportunities in Forensic Science” which contained these specifics. Call
Number: HF 5381 E62X 2008.
