THAT ART FAIR 2016: announcing international art galleries
THAT ART FAIR 2016 is proud to announce the participation of the following
international art galleries: Lab Art&Co (Luanda, Angola), Afriart (Kampala,
Uganda), ARTCO Art Gallery (Aachen. Germany), First Floor Gallery (Harare,
Zimbabwe) and Mojo Gallery (Dubai, UAE).
THAT ART FAIR – an initiative of ART AFRICA magazine – is a vibrant multiplatform art fair event presenting ‘Fresh Art From Africa.’ More than just another
art fair, THAT ART FAIR includes a programme of African film and video, talks
and workshops and an exciting THAT ART PARTY line up – featuring some of
the most exciting musical acts from Africa – making this <the> must attend event
taking place over Cape Town’s creative calendar in February!
Nobody says it better than our Invited Artist Emo de Medeiros:
“THAT ART FAIR is a great initiative, it is a harbinger of the global art market’s
future: it is both Pan-African and global, it welcomes galleries and artists alike
and embodies what ‘emergence’ stands for: bringing innovative practices,
thinking out the box and inventing new perspectives. I feel completely in sync
with this evolution, which could be a first step to a revolution in the art world.”
Hosted over a period of two and a half weeks, THAT ART FAIR presents the
opportunity for artists, collectors, gallerists, curators, creatives and media to
network. THAT ART FAIR believes that creating a young and invested collector
base and encouraging new and supportive audiences is essential to sustaining a
vibrant and unique African creative economy.

Based in Cape Town, South Africa ART AFRICA was founded in 2002 by Brendon and Suzette BellRoberts under the title ARTsouthAFRICA magazine. Now in its 14th year, the publication is
dedicated to promoting and stimulating a vibrant African creative arts industry. We are
committed to actively promoting transformation and cultural understanding; growing art
networks and creating opportunities for young artistic talent from the African continent.

publishing. With more than 100 major publications and exhibitions under his belt, he has helped
launch the careers of many of South Africa’s top artists and creatives. Together with his wife

digital platform in keeping with his focus on the role of creativity, sustainability and positive
change in the African digital revolution. Brendon is also co-founder of the Sustain our Africa

combine creativity, sustainability and positive change, helping to define the future Africa.

cutting edge Bell-Roberts Gallery in 1999 and launched ARTsouthAFRICA magazine 3 years later.
A passion for work produced by emerging artists committed to exploration and who push the
boundaries of their work; an unfaltering commitment to the promotion of the contemporary arts
