Clothes with words on or make up a selection of words in the group.

Choose some words from the clothing the youth are wearing and get them to make
a sentence about money using them.
e.g. I Love New York, love U, no music no life, like (by Facebook image)
"I love to save money and I like to spend it."
"No Money, no life."

Get the group to come up with 5 movies titles (or song titles) that you
could link to money (and say why if it is a bit obscure)
Examples:
Casino Royale, Slumdog Millionaire, Gone in 60 seconds, Ritchie Rich

Ice cream Challenge

Wallets (the youth are carrying)
10-15 minutes
Get the whole group to add up all the cash (notes and coins) they are carrying and
see how many individual ice creams you could buy for the whole group or how many
litres of ice cream you could buy to share in the group. If you don't want ice cream,
choose another item like pizza.
24 Hour Recall

Think back over the past 24 hours and what have you done during that time?
How much money did you spend? Write down EVERY CENT you spend.
Alternatively you can choose a day last week such as friday or Saturday.
Discussion:
Was it easy to recall what you spent?
Do you think you remembered everything?
How difficult is it to remember a week ago?
How does this relate to developing a spending plan or budget?
$Bill Buddies

Addition:
Pretend dollar bills. cut each bill in half using different cutting techniques (puzzle
style). You’ll need one bill for every two people in the group.
15-20 minutes
Randomly distribute the “half” dollars. Look around the room and find your money
$Bill Buddy. Introduce yourself to one another and tell them one thing you know
about money.
Have each person introduce their partner to the group and their fact.
e.g
"This is Mary and she knows that $50 notes are purple"
" This is Bill and he knows the price for a student movie ticket is..."
"This is Brian and he knows Dominoes do $5 pizza"
