Plan: Student will read chapter 4 of Walk Two moons. After reading chapter 4, have student provide a summary of this chapter about the theme or central idea of this chapter with particular details. Writing Standard(s): Text type & Purposes- 3. Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences. Plan: After writing his introduction, Angel will write his first body paragraph with 5-7 sentences. In this paragraph he should include transition words to make the sentence flow smoothly from his introduction to body paragraph. In this paragraph, tutee’s expectation is to write in descriptive and specific details about his experience. Activity Standard(s): Expressions & Equations- # 2- Write, read, and evaluates expressions in which letters stand for numbers. Plan: Angel and tutor will be playing basketball outside. Angel’s goal is to answer as many problems given for this standard and shoot as many baskets as he can to make the word “ASU Tutoring”. In order for him to gain a letter he will need to answer the problem correctly. If he does, he gets to shoot and if he gets the ball in the basket he gets a letter. If he does not make a basket or answer the problem correctly, tutor will get the letter. Provide paper for him to solve or use chalk. Differentiation: If we finish this activity early, we will go outside to play basketball and do some simple multiplication and division problems. Angel will be timed one minute to complete a mixture of 10 multiplication and division problems. If he gets all 10 problems right he will get to shoot the ball 2 times. If he gets one or more wrong, he will get a new set of problems to solve.
