A. Introduction
Good Morning/Afternoon class!
In this session you will learn all about the knowledge, skills and attitude specifically gas engine tune – up.
Within 40 hours period (minimum) you are going to learn to Perform Gas Engine Tune Up. You are going to be provided with information
sheets or CBLM/Modules. The content of this modules are the principles and theories that you will need to be able to successfully service vehicles
batteries. Also included in the module are operation sheet that you are required to apply in actual to enhance your KSA in this particular unit of
Competency. (Add more information regarding the topic, rules and regulations, dos and don’ts inside the workshop, etc.)
Before we start our session, I would like to ask you this question/s, what happens to us if we are overworking ourselves? Stress out? What do
you feel if you are working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? YES, that’s correct; ultimately we will be sick, worst case to happen to us, to be
hospitalized. Same here with our vehicles. Our vehicle contains hundreds of components that wear down over time and cause your car to lose
performance and fuel efficiency. Routine auto repair is necessary to keep your car running smoothly and to avoid costly repairs that can result
from major engine components breaking down. Regularly scheduled maintenance is designed to keep the important parts of your car in working
order and can save you money in the long run. During an automobile tune-up a trained technician will go through a specific process to designed to
examine, repair and adjust all of the necessary part of your vehicle.
(Solicit answers to the trainees, if they can’t get it, give some guide questions and provide positive reinforcement-“very good”, “precisely” and
etc.)
So class, are you ready to learn this things?

Performance Test: In automotive workshop. The performance will include – Adjusting valve tappet according to manufacturer’s specifications,
Demonstrate the correct and proper procedure in inspecting and testing spark plug, Demonstrate the proper and correct procedure in checking/
replacing fuel filter and air cleaner, Demonstrate the correct procedure in inspecting/ replacing contact point and condenser, Demonstrate the proper
adjustment of idle speed and mixture, Demonstrate the proper procedure in checking advance mechanism and adjusting ignition timing &
Compression Testing
As each of the above activity is completed, the student will document the action performed (in writing or in a Trainee Record Book/Journal) for
assessment purposes.
D. Teacher’s Self-Reflection of the Session
If the trainee/student is competent on both knowledge and actual, said trainee can move to the next unit of competency, however if he/she is not
yet competent either in knowledge/practical the trainee is going to repeat the process or retake the written exam.
The trainee has only three attempts to be able to pass this unit of competency, after these attempts, if the trainee/students still in not yet
competent, he will undergo a review or refreshers course as an intervening factor to improve the areas that requires improvement on his/her KSA,
however after the review and the student is rated again not yet competent, the trainee requires guidance counselling.
