Use keyword phrases to narrow competitive keywords. Use bold font for keywords. Use each keyword often on each page, about 5 –10 times per keyword (Do not saturate). Place keywords close to each other for more relevance. Use a keyword optimization tool for keyword density, recommended 2-8%. Do not saturate page with keywords, keep text relative to web subject. Do not use small or invisible keywords, like text smaller than the eye can see or text the same color as the background. Response Time If your site is fast, search engines will favor it. Can be checked with most CEO programs. Site Map Include a site map page on your web to link all pages together. Back Links Include a links page on your site and share back links with other sites. (Other classmates and established websites). Submission Use a CEO program to submit your site for automatic submission. Manually submit to other major search engines, such as Google and Yahoo, which do not allow auto submission. Negatives Broken links - Internally and outgoing. Spam – Meta tag stuffing (to many key words). Meta Refresh Tag (automatically opening new web page). Irrelevance - If you use irrelevant keywords, description, etc. Tiny Text. - If you use text that is too small for the eye to see. Invisible Text - Text the same color as the background. Redirects - Where when you try and get to one page, but the address changes to a different one. Excessive Search Engine Submission - over submitting may get your site banned. Compounded Words in the content, or tags will not help the web site for individual terms - i.e. - 'hammersandnails' as opposed to 'hammers and nails'. Excessive punctuation in the TITLE and description tags - wastes precious space, and some characters are ignored or may cause a problem with the spider.
