1994 - Early writer on idea of Viral Marketing
 Douglas Rushkoff (media critic)
○ Book: Media Virus.
○ Explained the process as having “exponential growth”

1996 – Term coined by a professor,
 Jeffrey Rayport, Harvard Business School
