“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who
file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato
salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.”
― Erma Bombeck

A PRAYER FOR HEALING: Heavenly Father, I call on you right now in a special way. It is through
your power that I was created. Every breath I take, every morning I wake, and every moment of every
hour, I live under your power.
Father, I ask you now to touch me with that same power. For if you created me from nothing,
you can certainly recreate me. Fill me with the healing power of your spirit. Cast out anything that
should not be in me. Mend what is broken. Root out any unproductive cells. Open any blocked
arteries or veins and rebuild any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection.
Let the warmth of your healing love pass through my body to make new any unhealthy areas
so that my body will function the way you created it to function. And Father, restore me to full health
in mind and body so that I may serve you the rest of my life. I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
Grace and Peace to You!
Fr. Bo

We sincerely thank and ask God’s blessing
upon all who have care and concern
for our parish.
It’s a time when we take it easy and become more relaxed. So, please consider: Wear both comfortable
and appropriate clothing at Mass. Attire should be modest in keeping with the sacred nature of the
Liturgical Celebration. Also, liturgical ministers are reminded to do their best to fulfill their assignments or
find a replacement. Contact the rectory if you cannot get a substitute.
Also, both Mass attendance and financial support tend to decline during the summer season. Please
strive to sustain a consistent level of Mass attendance and contributions during the coming months. May
the good Lord bless and guide you during this summer season wherever you may be.
The Church Air Conditioner is set at 70 Degrees. It will automatically come on when the temperature calls
for it. Please bring a sweater if you find this uncomfortable and do not sit near a vent. Sit in the middle or
at the end of the center aisle pew.
A PRAYER FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY
Dear Lord,
There is no greater feeling of liberation than to experience this freedom from sin and death that you have
provided for me through Jesus Christ. Today my heart and my soul are free to praise you. For this I am very
thankful.
On this Independence Day I am reminded of all those who have sacrificed for my
freedom, following the example of your Son, Jesus Christ. Let me not take my freedom,
both physical and spiritual, for granted. May I always remember that my freedom was
purchases with a very high price. My freedom cost others their very lives.
Lord, today, bless those who have served and continue to give their lives for my
freedom. With favor and bounty meet their needs and watch over their families.
Help me to live my life in a way that glorifies you, Lord. Give me the strength to be a
blessing in someone else's life today, and grant me the opportunity to lead others into
the freedom that can be found in knowing Christ. Amen
Little Andy Was At His First Day of School
Mrs. Whyte, his teacher advises the class that each school day starts with the "Pledge of Allegiance"***
and instructs them to put their right hand over their heart and repeat after her. As Mrs. Whyte starts
the recitation she looks around the room, 'I pledge allegiance to the flag........', when her eyes are
drawn to Andy who has his hand over the right cheek of his bottom. 'Andy, I cannot continue till you
put your hand over your heart,' she demands. Andy looks up and replies, 'It is over my heart.'
After several more attempts to get Andy to put his hand over his heart, Mrs. Whyte enquires, 'Why do
you think that is your heart, Andy?'
'Well Miss,' answers Andy, 'because every time my Grandma comes to visit she pats me there and says,
"Bless your little heart," and my Grandma never lies.'

Memo to all Parish employees, Religious Ed catechists, substitutes, and volunteers:
The PENNSYLVANIA CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE LAW has been amended to better protect children
from abuse and neglect. This law has impacted all professions that are responsible for or care for children,
such as teachers, health care workers, child care, coaches, scout leaders, as well as the Church.
Part of this law requires clearances and training. This means that anyone working with our parish
children will need these clearances. All Parish employees, Religious Education catechists, substitutes,
helpers, youth group leaders and volunteers and any other adults who help to chaperone and mentor our
children in any way are those who are required to have and will need these clearances, both the PA Criminal
History (Act 34) and the PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151).
Parishioners that already have these clearances and training required by their jobs will only need to
submit all copies to our Saint Michael Parish Office so we can have them on file in our records. This will
alleviate duplication of services. If your job does not already require these, or you do not have these
clearances, you will need to obtain them to work with the parish children. These clearances will be free for all
volunteers. Please contact the Rectory Office at 495-9640 or the Religious Education Office at 495-4873 to
obtain more information and websites to help with this process. Once completed, you will need to provide
copies of clearances and certification.
