A+ Letters

During the grading sessions with the TAs they may let you know that there were some students who deserved an A+ for the semester. This is usually the top person on each of the TA’s grade spreadsheets with the noted A+ beside his/her name.

Once all the grades have been submitted, you will compose a spreadsheet of all the student who deserve the A+ for the semester. This spreadsheet should include the students first and last name, their TA’s name, course and section number, email address (look up in IBIS using ARISPA), and the scores (percentages) they received on quizzes, reports, TA evaluation, the final and the actual grade.

After the spreadsheet has been made, you will print out a copy then compose a letter for the students letting them know that they received an A+ for the semester and they are being recognized for this great accomplishment. There is a template for this letter under (Q:\Suzanne\A+ Students). This letter template has parts that will need to be changed for each student. You must also fill in what percentage they received for each part of lab as identified. The highlighted areas include the changing of date, the student name in 3 places, and the change from him/her to he/she as appropriate. Be sure to also change the semester and change the TAs name. Once the changes have been made, you will need to click “Save As” and save the letter as the student name in a new folder under A+ Letters and label it as the semester which the A+ letters have been deserved.

After all the letters have been filled out correctly, print them out on Official PSU

Letterhead. Send an email to the TAs letting them know that the A+ Letters are finished and they will need to stop by and sign the letter. Once signed by Dr. Keiser and TA, mail the letter to the student’s home address.
