Dear NMI President and Pastor: Your District NMI Council recommends that all West Texas churches support Nazarene Missions International (NMI) through the following activities: 1. Strive to be Mission Priority One by Praying for missions and global evangelization Discipling and mentoring others in mission including children and/or teens – please be sure to involve children and teens in reading NMI books, hearing missionaries speak at your church, giving to World Evangelism Fund and other NMI offerings, praying for missions, and participating in Work & Witness and hands-on missions activities Giving at least 5.5% of adjusted church income to the World Evangelism Fund Educating your people in mission through all 4 of the following methods: a. Use multimedia mission resources and publications such as the “Living Mission” adult mission education, youth/teens mission education packet, and children’s mission education packet that are available from NPH; monthly NMI emphases; media resources that are downloadable at www.nazarenemedialibrary.org; Mission Connection Magazine and other e-publications that are available at www.nazarene.org/subscriber.aspx, etc. Global awareness/mission education can be effective through Sunday school, children’s church, bulletin and newsletter inserts, drama, announcements, and “Mission Moments” in regular services. Use the tools that work well in your church, and keep the message before all of your people. b. Promote NMI mission books/tapes/CDs and report the number of NMI books read c. Participate in mission service projects or hands-on mission activities such as shipping Crisis Care Kits and School Pal-Paks, working at a local food bank or shelter, participating in Habitat for Humanity, helping a local school, delivering Meals on Wheels, participating in Work & Witness, sending unofficial-LINKS-requested supplies to the mission field such as rolled bandages, used eye glasses, etc. d. Attend a service with a missionary speaker or missions emphasis either at your church, another church, West Texas Vision Conference, NMI Zone Rally, or send a child to camp or a teen to Youth-A-Rama at which there is a missions emphasis. 2. The West Texas District NMI budget is included in the District Unified Fund. Send 5% of adjusted church income to the West Texas District Treasurer weekly or monthly to help support Nazarene Missions International on our District. The District NMI Budget for 2015-2016 was submitted to the District Advisory Board for approval in the amount of $17,200. DAN DAVISSON (dan@westexnaz.org) DISTRICT TREASURER 860 Airport Fwy, Suite 206 Hurst, TX 76054 817-479-8611 (office) 817-479-8615 (fax) 3. Consider every church member to also be an NMI Member and count every non-churchmember who attends and participates in NMI programs or activities as Associate NMI Members. Make missions available to your entire church membership, not just a smaller group that meets one night a month. Record NMI membership on your quarterly check-ups and yearend NMI report and submit them according to schedule. 4. Participate in special NMI offerings for Alabaster, Missionary Care, World Mission Broadcast, LINKS, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, and the Children’s Project Offering. Make checks payable to “General Treasurer” and mail to: GLOBAL TREASURY SERVICES (866-624-3092) P.O. BOX 843116 KANSAS CITY, MO 64184 5. Participate in District Teens Mission Project Offering and District Work & Witness Offering and mail to: Rev. Zack Smithson District NMI Treasurer 500 Live Oak, Euless, TX 76040 zacksmithson@yahoo.com c: 817-283-6540 817-368-8090 6. When possible, pay missionaries-on-deputation generously with minimum offerings according to the guidelines set by the general church: $400-500 for Sunday morning, $250-350 for Sunday evening; $225-325 for weeknights, and $700-no limit for Faith Promise Weekends. Allow your people to hear the missionary’s presentation before taking the offering. Make the check to “General Treasurer” and hand it to the missionary. The missionary uses deputation offerings for travel expenses, furlough expenses, and equipment needed back on the mission field. If your church finds it challenging to bring in adequate deputation offerings, consider setting a goal for these offerings, including it in your church budget, and/or starting a deputation fund at the beginning of the church year. 7. Establish personal contact with your LINKS missionaries promptly. Remember that LINKS stands for Loving, Interested, Nazarenes Knowing and Sharing. West Texas Nazarenes have shown over the years that they love their missionaries and are interested in knowing and sharing with them! 8. Support NMI Leadership Training by sending pastors and mission leaders for training and inspiration to the West Texas Vision Conference, any NMI Zone Rallies, and any area NMI workshops that may be scheduled across the district in the coming months. 9. Reach Church of Excellence Award by paying 5.7% of adjusted church income or $1,500 over goal for World Evangelism Fund. 10. Strive to be a District 100% Church, which is the West Texas District Award program for outstanding accomplishment in every area of NMI.
