American Museum of Natural History Saltz Internship Program Spring 2016 APPLICATION DEADLINE: 11:59 p.m. Sunday, January 3rd Saltz Internship Program Spring 2016 Eligibility and Requirements New York City high school students who are 16-18 years old are eligible to apply. Applicants must live or attend school within the five boroughs of New York City. Strong preference will be given to students who have taken at least two AMNH high school After School Program courses. To Apply visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FY16_SaltzSpring2016_A o A thoughtful essay between 200 and 400 words in length (about 1-2 pages) Please write a 200-400 word essay about yourself that addresses the following questions: - Why are you a good candidate for the Saltz Internship Program? - Why are you interested in the sciences? - How will this experience at the Museum help you further your academic and career goals? o Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. School Year Program Schedule The Spring 2016 Session will be January 23rd – April 17th 2016. Training: Training will take place on two consecutive weekend days on January 23rd and January 24th 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Attendance at both training sessions is mandatory. Two additional trainings dates will be held during the program, dates TBD. **Training on Jan 23rd and Jan 24th is MANDATORY** The program provides on-the-job training and exposure to careers in science, museum education, and related fields. Participants work closely with Museum scientists and educators exploring scientific content and learning valuable skills for working with and teaching learners of all ages. Internship hours: Interns are expected to work 2 (2.5)hour shifts per weekend Saturday or Sunday. Interns will work on educational touch carts and digital interactive experiences with visitors.
