New food technology solutions from the Lapp Group
Certified connection technology
Stuttgart, 24th March 2015
The Stuttgart-based Lapp Group is presenting its extensive portfolio of
connection solutions, which comply with the strict requirements of the
global food and beverage industry, for the first time at the Anuga
FoodTec trade fair (Hall 5.1, Stand B090). The products have obtained
ECOLAB® certifications confirming their suitability, while the designs
have fulfilled EHEDG specifications.
The real highlight is the EHEDG-certified cable gland SKINTOP®
HYGIENIC, which due to its shape, precision fit and material fulfils the
highest of hygiene standards. SKINTOP® HYGIENIC is made from
stainless steel V4A (1.4404) and comes in direct contact with food during
production. It has no corners or edges and its seals are made from FKM
elastomer-based material that is suitable for foodstuffs. SKINTOP®
HYGIENIC became the first product to undergo a test based on the new
EHEDG certification guidelines – this was conducted by the
Weihenstephan Institute in Freising, Germany.
Another important topic concerning food technology is EMC screening.
This is why the Lapp product range includes the new stainless steel gland
SKINTOP® INOX SC. It has a compact design and, with its highly
conductive and flexible EMC contact springs, guarantees optimum EMC

various environmental influences. Cable insulations made from PVC and
polyurethane, which have also received UL certification, are suitable for
a range of precisely coordinated applications. Material resistance tests
and function tests are carried out to ensure that the recommended cables
are compatible with common industrial cleaning and disinfection agents.
The cables are then awarded an ECOLAB® certification.
ETHERLINE® Cat.5 and Cat.6 cables are used for data exchange. Lapp
has a wide range of round and rectangular connectors, for example
EPIC® ULTRA, a corrosion and salt water-resistant rectangular
connector. The product range also includes cable glands for use in chilled
zones such as SKINTOP® COLD, which has an application range
reaching as low as -70 degrees Celsius.
Other new additions to the range include a SILVYN® HYGIENIC
conduit gland in Hygienic Design, which is suitable for the product zone
and has a corresponding conduit, and a FLEXIMARK® stainless steel
marking.
Lapp is also showcasing its new product catalogue, made specially for
the food and beverage industry, at Anuga FoodTec. The catalogue, titled
"The World of Lapp – overview of food and beverage technology",
summarises the full range of connection technology for this industry.
