In our off season you may not see our crews or equipment very often. That doesn’t

mean we are not as busy as ever. We see summer as our most involved season.

Summer is much more than just a vacation for us. Planning, sales, equipment up
fitting, equipment repairs, equipment and supply allocation, route management and

expansion planning are all tasks we tackle on a daily basis. We have found that being a
top snow management company involves more than pushing snow around! To us,
winter is a 24/7 365 business.
Salt, Salt, Salt!
More than ever we hear the word “Salt”! Salt this…
Salt that! But Why? It’s because many companies
were left without salt during the 2013-2014 season
and without a way to replenish their supply. For
many years’ salt supply and prices held about the
same and then “BOOM”, prices nearly tripled
overnight. It’s a simple formula of supply and
demand. Now companies and municipalities are
increasing their pre-season orders by up to 20%
while maintaining a leftover supply. In past seasons
orders would fulfill the season’s needs without any
leftover salt. Now these 20% over estimate orders
on top of left over material has increased demand
up to 40%. This 40% increase now reflects the
increase in our costs and therefore the increase in
your cost.
Time to Get Connected!
It is time to use all of
our technology
resources to our
advantage!
It seems everyone and every company is now on some sort of Social Media. FACEBOOK
and TWITTER are great ways for individuals and companies to stay in touch with their
friends and followers. These avenues of connection are in some cases a life line between
friends, family, clients and employees. How many times have you been invited to an
event via email? How about an invite that was mailed to you? Do those sources of
invite seem like a thing of the past?
Social media has taken the informational world by storm lately. Friends invite you to
events or gatherings via FACEBOOK. Status updates via Facebook and Twitter keep you
up to date with your friend’s daily activities. Companies update their social media
pages to keep you informed on daily deals or specials. Why can’t this work with snow
removal?
IT DOES! Spelman Snow and Ice Control has grasped this technology and integrated it
into our event call outs, weather updates and route management. This isn’t only for
our service provider’s; it’s just as useful to our clients, property owners and managers.
We post our event details and weather directly on our public pages for all to see. This
helps keep you informed! Now you get to see what our crew members see! Together
we can stay ahead of the storm!
