Application Deadline: Wednesday, June 15 at 5:00 pm. *You must be nominated from your home university. *Late Application is NOT accepted. *Please understand that due to exchange balance and capacity limitation, we may not be able to accept all applications. *Please note that students who are already scheduled to remain through the fall and winter do not need to apply for an extension at this time. Shortly after this message, we will contact all students individually to inform you of your currently scheduled enrollment period, so please double-check the enrollment period in that email before beginning your application. Before You Begin: Contact Your Home University for Permission Students will need to obtain a nomination from their home universities as part of the application process to extend their stay at AIU. Please do not wait for the AIU application period to begin, but contact your home university study abroad office as well as your academic adviser, to obtain permission and learn their procedures required for extending your stay. **Please note that due to the exchange imbalance between AIU and partner schools and capacity limitations we may not be ablt to accept all applicants for extension. Application Timeline: If you are currently enrolled in Spring semester, you can extend for the following period(s). Extension for Fall Semester and Winter Program Information Announced by email June 1 Application Period for Study at AIU June 1 – Mid June Notification of acceptance June 25 Application Period for Extension for Period July 15 of Stay in Japan (to be submitted to the immigration office) Submission of Required Documents for AIU Admission: The application process consists of three steps: 1) Application for Extension of Your Study at AIU 2) Application for Extension of Period of Stay in Japan ** Extending your enrollment period at AIU may require you to extend your residence card at the immigration office before your residence period expires. 3) Submission of Application to the Immigration Office **Once your application for Extension for Period of Stay in Japan is approved by AIU, you are required to take it to the immigration office. **Once your card is renewed, you will be informed by the immigration office via postcard. Bank Account Balance Statement Required if you will be supported in whole or part by “personal savings” or a “financial supporter” - Must be dated no more than 1 month prior to submission - Must show account holder’s name and balance on the same page - Account must belong to you or your financial sponsor - Documents such as stock certificates, which may lose value, or property that cannot be converted into cash will not be accepted. 2.
