Polished Pieces Project:
Your chance to show your stuff
What it is:




At the start of each week, this project will be assigned and you will have until
Friday to complete it.
You may write in whatever form you choose (poem, essay, script, etc.) and about
whatever you want.
It is your chance to write about what you care about in a form that you feel good
about.
I encourage you to draw from your writing territories and writers notebook, but it
is not required
What it is not:


There is no page minimum or maximum. You have a week and you must meet
the requirements. That’s it.
I do not give better grades to papers I “like” better. My opinion is relevant, but
does not impact my grading. If you meet the requirements in a school appropriate
way, you will earn 100%. Please do not try to cater to me—this assignment is
mean to give you a break from trying to please a teacher.
What I expect from you:




Each week will have a new checklist, and this checklist will list the requirements
for your final product.
Your final product must look like one:
o Appropriate grammar/spelling
o Typed
o Includes: your name, my name, your period number, the date, and the title
of your work.
Your work must always be school-appropriate
Turn in your work on time: I am setting aside my weekend to grade this work
because I think it is important and valuable—please allow me the time I need to
grade thoughtfully.
