Spelling Contract For each word study week, you need to complete activities that will add up to 20 points. You may decide on which activities to complete. A copy of this contract should always be in your word study folder. For many activities you will be able to use supplies from the classroom. However, some choices are better completed at home. Be sure to choose the best way for you to study! 10 point Activities 10 point Activities 20 point Activities 1. ABC order- write your words in cursive or print in alphabetical order. 9. Syllable- write each word as many times as there are syllables 17. Opposites Attract- write each word one time. Write an antonym next to it. Write your spelling words in a sentence. 2. Reversed words- write your words in print in ABC 10. Practice test- take a practice test at home. order backwards Write any missed words 3 times each. Include a parent signature on the test. 3. Rainbow words- write your words using at least 3 different colors 11. Sentences- write each word in a sentence. Combining words in sentences to make them a 4. Vowel search- write your words then underline complete sentence, logical sentences is acceptable. the vowels Underline your spelling words. 5. shhh!- write your words, cross out the silent letters. 6. Technology Words- Type your word list. You may print them or email them to heintz@northwestern.k12.oh.us 7. Study skills- study your words for 10 minutes; You must bring a note written by your parent. 8. Parts of Speech- write each word and classify each word as a noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, or adjective 18. Story Words- write a short story in print using all of your own words. Underline the words in the story. 19. Same as a Synonym- write each word one time. Write a synonym next to it. Write your spelling words in a sentence. 12. Flashcards- make flashcards for all your spelling words. Write the word on the front and the definition on the back. You may use index cards or loose leaf paper for this activity. 20. Ransom Words- write your words by cutting out letters from a newspaper or magazine. Print your words and glue the letters on the paper next to your printed words. 13. Syllable Separation- write each word and divide it into syllables. Use a dictionary to help you. 21. Awesome Advertising- write a T.V. commercial for your favorite product. Use at least ½ of your words and be able to perform in to the class. 14. Bowtie Spelling- write your words in order from longest word to shortest word and then shortest word to longest. 15. Seeing Double- print each word. Next to it, write the word in cursive. 16. Pure Poetry- write a poem using ½ of your words. 22. Production- create a product on a poster you would like to sell and use ½ of your spelling words to advertise it. Your poster must include the product, name, illustration, and the cost. 23. Breaking News- Pretend you are a news anchor, weather person, or reporter. Using your spelling words, write a report. 24. Comic Strip- create a comic strip and write captions using your words.
