 One Universal software for most TI devices: TI-73, TI-83

Getting Started
 TI Connect is distributed on TI’s Resource CD (version
2.5 and later) and as a free download from the Web
(education.ti.com/ticonnect)
 The TI-GRAPH LINK ™ cables can be purchased via
instructional dealers, retailers, or TI’s web site
 Installing TI Connect for Windows:
 Due to Windows “Plug n’ Play” capabilities the TI Connect
software must be installed before you plug in your USB
cable.
 If you are using a Serial cable (gray or black) this is not
necessary.

Getting Started
The computers you have in front of you should be loaded
with Windows 98 and TI Connect 1.0. Let’s get to
playing…..
 Plug-in the USB cable. Insert one end of the cable to the
computer and the other end to your favorite TI device
 Two ways to launch the software
1. Click on the desktop icon (TI Connect)
2. Goto the START>PROGRAMS>TI CONNECT>TI CONNECT

You can:

Updates
You can:
• Get automatic notification of updates
to the newer version of Operating
System and purchased Apps
• Set your preferences to notify you of
updates automatically or check
manually
For OS updates, all device files will be:
• backed up from the device
• OS installed
• restored to the device
• Directly download the update to the
device without saving on the computer.

Backup and Restore
You can:
• Transfer all data from the
connected TI device and save it as
a single back up file (group file
format) on the computer. NOTE:
Backup does not include Flash
applications or OS.

Tricks
 Right-click on a TI device content file and use the Send to
connected TI device to send to the file to the device
 Drag numbers, lists and matrix from Device Explorer and drop
it into Data Editor
 Double-click the number, list or matrix file to edit it in Data
Editor
 Drag picture files from Device Explorer and drop it into Screen
Capture. You can add borders, resize or copy image to the
clipboard.
 Double-click the picture file to manipulate it in Screen Capture.

Tricks
 Drag and drop files between Device Explorer, Data Editor,
Group Explorer and Screen Capture, as well as your desktop,
folders on your desktop and Windows Explorer
 In Device Explorer, you can switch devices or cables and simply
hit the refresh option to see the directory of your new device.
 Send data from one device type (eg TI-83 Plus) to another (eg
TI-89) via the Data Editor

Questions
1.
How much does it cost and where can I get it?
TI Connect is a free download from the web site at education.ti.com/ticonnect. It will also be
included in future released of TI’s resource CD. It will also come packaged with the new products
along with a TI-GraphLink™ USB cable.
2.
Does TI Connect work with Windows 3.x operating system?
You will need to use TI-GraphLink™ Software for Windows 3.x Operating system.
3.
Can I use my USB cable with the TI-GraphLink™ software?
TI-GraphLink™ software does not support USB functionality.

4.
Is TI Connect going to replace the TI-GraphLink™ software?
No, TI-GRAPH LINK™ software will still be available for our users. You will still need the software for
the following reasons:

Windows 3.x users will need to use TI-GRAPH LINK™ software. TI Connect can be used only
for Windows 98 and above.

Users will need to use TI-GRAPH LINK™ software for using the program editor functionality.
This will be added in a future release of TI Connect software.

Users will also need to use TI-GRAPH LINK™ software to get the TI device ID from the device.
5.
Do I need to have an active Internet connection all the time?
No. You will need the Internet connection only when you are using the Updates function or if you are
downloading an App or OS from the TI Online Store. You do not need to connected to the Internet to
use the other features.
