The Rutherford County Schools’ total enrollment is approximately 38,870 students with 45 schools. CMS: Central Magnet School opened its doors in the fall of 2010. The 25 acre campus is home to 1,217 students in grades 6-12. Student must apply to CMS and are admitted based on academics and test scores. MISSION STATEMENT: The Mission of Central Magnet School is to challenge each student, teacher and parent with the high expectations of a challenging curriculum; To provide students with a rigorous educational program in a collaborative setting, with emphasis on mastery of academics, critical thinking, effective communication skills, and character development. STAFF: 81% of teachers have Master's degrees or higher with an average of 12 years of experience. Student/teacher ratio 17:1. CURRICULUM: The course offerings for CMS students are rigorous college prep classes taught at the Honors, Advanced Honors, and Advanced Placement level. TYPES OF DIPLOMAS: Students have the opportunity to graduate with Honors and Distinction in accordance to the state guidelines. The Central Magnet Diploma is achieved by taking four AP courses, completing 25 hours community service a year and presenting a senior thesis.
