Vintage Pearl Restaurant
• The Vintage Pearl Restaurant and Wine Cellar is a
classy and traditional eating out place in West
Bay, Roatan Island, Honduras. The restaurant
offers gourmet cuisine with a diverse range of
beautifully prepared and carefully presented food
along with a wide array of the finest wines to be
found in the area; both local and imported. The
best part about the Vintage Pearl Restaurant is
that it offers fine dining and exquisite cuisine but
the atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming, it
feels like you’re right at home.
San Pedro Sula
• San Pedro Sula is the second largest city
in Honduras, and as such, offers a large
selection of restaurants that will fit every
taste. There is probably no other city in
Central America with such a large proportion
of US franchise restaurants. You can find
anything from Applebee’s to Fridays to Chillies
and Denny’s as well as Burger King, Wendy’s,
McDonalds, Church’s Chicken, Pizza Hut,
Kentucky Fried Chicken etc.

Los Catrachos Restaurant in Honduras
Honduran restaurants on Staten Island (El
Catracho and El Patio) and the city as a whole (La
Orquidea) seem to be a dying breed. A lot of
Salvadoran restaurants have picked up the slack a
bit and put a baleada on their menu, but the
weight of the Honduran community seems to be
squarely on the shoulders of Los Catrachos, near
the old El Catracho space in Stapleton which still
has its awning covered by a furniture store. The
two are apparently unaffiliated from what I can
tell.

Seven affordable, under the radar
beach destinations
• Roatan, a minnow-shaped island within
Honduras' Bay Islands, attracts divers who

seating, Hacienda Real is a treat. Located just
across the street from the Marriott Hotel in
Tegucigalpa, Hacienda Real is open daily for lunch
and dinner. A bit on the pricy side by Honduran
standards, it is still a bargain by international
standards.

• The new owners have Jamaican, Chinese, and
island style food. The restaurant is open for
lunch and dinner six days a week and closed
on Mondays. Located along the main road
near Lawson's Rock.

Copan city
• Copan City, or Copan Ruinas, as it is officially known, is a destination
that many people understandably look to add to their Honduras
vacation itineraries. Found in the extreme western part of the
country less than 10 miles from the border of Guatamala, this small
city lies near one of the most renowned Maya ceremonial sites in
Mesoamerica – Copan. Copan City also offers proximity to beautiful
forests, which present area visitors with an array of adventuretourism possibilities. When Copan Ruinas visitors aren’t exploring
the nearby ruins or engaging in adventurous pursuits in the
surrounding forests and mountains, they can find other ways to stay
busy. One option is to take Spanish classes at one of the town’s
small language schools. There are even Copan City travel packages
that include Spanish classes, meals, and accommodations with a
local family.

• When traveling eating out is one of the
highlights of the trip. It can go in two directions:
you strike gold with a great place or you end up
being pretty pissed you just shelled out too much
money.
• Gratefully, when we arrived to Fosters Restaurant
and Bar in West Bay it was time for the setting
sun and the whole restaurant was illuminated.
For me, the #1 most important trait when looking
where to eat is LOCATION. And let me tell you,
Fosters is perfectly located.
