Material Handling and Automation Summit 2015 Details of the various sessions planned during the 2 day summit: Day 1 10:00 – 11:00 am Inaugural Session Session from GOI Minister – This has to be decided by CII based on the Chief Guest. The right context for the forthcoming 2 days could be established in this session. Broad issues in logistics, warehousing could be touched upon and also the challenges that the nation is currently facing 11:30 –13:00 pm Session I: Panel discussion Creation of right infrastructure + Selection of right MHE leading into right ROI This session could focus on the various parameters that govern the design and creation of the right kind of infrastructure. It could focus on infrastructure covering various aspects of building, flooring, lighting, utilities, etc Selection of the right MHE and automation solution based on the application and service levels required, throughput, clear height available, etc. Skill development in human resources to run and manage such an infrastructure How does ROI get calculated in such large investments proposed and what should be the key points to be considered for decision making 13:00 – 14:00 pm Networking Lunch Break 14:00 – 15:30 pm Session II: Panel Discussion Importance of standardization in improving operational efficiency This session could focus on the need for standardization of pallets/bins/containers. Unit load standardization will go a long way in optimizing handling efficiency. Logistics movement would also benefit through this standardization. Optimization of resources and leveraging automation would also be driven through this standardization effort. The session will also briefly touch upon non-standard loads and various means to handle such type of special requirements. It will also briefly touch on the various standards followed internationally and the impact it brings on improving the logistics efficiency. Options of pooling/rental can also be on the rise due to this standardization. 15:30 – 16:00 pm Networking Break 16:00 – 17:30 pm Session III: Panel Discussion Value Added Services (VAS) offered by MHE and system integrators With increasing trend of outsourcing and the constant need of qualified and skilled professionals, value added services offered by MHE and system integrators can be of significant importance in today’s context. The session could touch upon the various rental/financing options available and long term service contracts to ensure 100% uptime of the handling equipments. The need for operations of an automated system/MHE which guarantees desired SLA is on the rise and it becomes a viable business proposition. Skill gap identification and providing the desired training/inputs on skill development is also very critical. Innovative service models like paper use, fleet management software and services would also be covered in this session. Day 2 10:00 – 11:30 pm Session IV: Panel Discussion Focus on safety and risk mitigation to secure goods and equipment and provide a safe environment With safety gaining the top most prominence in any set up today it is imperative that organizations focus on this area. With increased degree of automation and usage of modern MHE, the session could look at safe practices in the work environment. Identification of hazards and removal to ensure an accident free environment is very critical. Session will also focus on safe practices and ergonomics that lead to better productivity and reduced accident rate. It will also focus on how to secure goods and unitization techniques which will ensure safety of goods when handled at heights. From a technology perspective, it will touch upon the various safety interlocks that come in today’s modern equipment including self diagnostic tools. 11:30 – 12:00 pm Networking Break 12:00 – 13:30 pm Session V: Panel Discussion Options of Systems and Technologies to be future-ready With increasing service levels and potential growth plans of every organization it is important that every industry focuses on systems and technologies available that will help them to be future ready This session could focus on understanding the changing needs of the customer across key sectors. The kind of demand and service levels that will be required to meet the changing expectations of the customers will be discussed. Options on various systems and technologies that is available today to create such future ready facilities. The increasing usage of IT with the right handling solutions and at the same time integrating with customer database will be touched upon. The focus on various emission norms and clean technology advances in creation of material handling equipment. Integrated material handling with other processes for sustainability can also be touched upon in this session
