Immanuel Lutheran Church and School 300 N. Grimes Giddings, Texas 78942
Wow, it is so hard to believe it is December already! Where has the time gone? With
Christmas right around the corner, many people will begin the process of searching for that perfect gift for their loved ones. Many will spend hours searching the Internet from the comfort of their couches or desks, while others will fight the myriad of crowded stores only to walk away empty-handed and heavy-hearted. I know for me personally I avoid stores as much as possible during the holiday season. Funny how a trip to the store can rapidly cause our hearts to grow weary as we see people at their “not-so-best”.
I remember growing up and playing Hide-And-Seek. Someone was chosen to be the seeker and everyone else had to hide. The game was over when the seeker found everyone who was hiding. Some hid in really hard places and some in easy ones, but the seeker had to continue the job until all were found. In Luke 19, we read the story of Jesus’ interaction with
Zacchaeus. In Verse 10, Jesus says this about His mission: “For the Son of Man came to seek
and save the lost.” Jesus went from place to place searching for those who were far from Him.
He went up to the Disciples when they were still working in their family business and told them to follow Him. He did not sit in the temple, or on the side of the pier waiting for people to come to Him. He was out doing “His father’s bidding.”
There is so much going on in our world today and it has become a very scary place. It would be easier to stay locked away in our home or our own community than to go out into the world and spread the Gospel message to those who are lost and far off, or even to those who have drifted away from God. But that is not what we are called to do. Jesus gave us the perfect example of what we are supposed to do. He knew first-hand the opposition He faced, yet He still went out and did the job. What if we left the pews on Sunday and went out with the message of Jesus Christ and lived it out in our daily lives? What if we cared more for those around us than for finding that perfect gift or what we want? Immanuel has made some beautifications to the inside of the church, but we need to go out and be a light for others to follow. A simple invitation to come and experience the life-changing love of Christ goes a long way.
I pray that you are all kept in the safety and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ this holiday season, and that you seek treasures in heaven as you seek the perfect gift for your loved ones.

Youth & Family Life

Stamps need not be trimmed or removed from the envelopes, but if you care to prepare them, please trim stamps from envelopes with at least

Ask neighbors, relatives, friends & co-workers to join you in saving stamps for the “Lutheran
