Abstract: Students will choose ONE question from the three and write a critical analysis of the Novel Brave New World in a 750 – 1000 word essay. Students will read the questions below and choose one to answer. With having an answer in mind, they will form a thesis and find supporting evidence both within the novel and from secondary sources (3 quality secondary sources must be used as well as quotations and information from the novel). Critical Analysis: The purpose for writing a critique is to evaluate somebody's work (a book, an essay, a movie, a painting...) in order to increase the reader's understanding of it. A critical analysis is subjective writing because it expresses the writer's opinion and evaluation of a text. Analysis means to break down and study the parts. Writing a critical paper requires two steps: critical reading and critical writing. Questions: How do various characters lose or keep their individuality in the book? What does this say about the dangers of the loss of individuality in our society? To what degree are these methods of control effective (do they work well or not)?
