Excerpt from the Safety Plan From A Round Of The BTRDA Rally Series 5. Responsibilities of rescue crews and doctors at the incident site 5.1. The main priority of the first crew on the scene will be to Triage the casualties, assessing the number and severity of the casualties. Communication must be established with radio control and information passed including requirements for additional crews, and outside assistance, consideration should be given to setting up a casualty clearing point. Only once this has been done can treatment be considered. 5.2. The first rescue unit on scene will become the control unit and should be the only vehicle that displays flashing blue beacons. The senior rescue crew leader should not get physically involved in a rescue but be available at the control unit to assign, in conjunction with the stage medical officer, arriving crews to casualties. Subsequent crews will report to the control unit crew leader to ensure that priority casualties are dealt with first. 5.3. Duties will include extraction of casualties, stabilisation of casualties to enable safe transfer and the evacuation of casualties to the rendezvous point or to hospital. 5.4. The crew leaders and doctors will write a report on their actions and submit it as soon as possible to Rally H.Q. 5.5. No statements will be given to the press who should be directed to contact the Media Office at Rally H .Q. What Happens Next? Incident in the street.
