• Work for the International Trade Centre (Switzerland and
Kyrgyzstan), other UN bodies (Switzerland), or Transparency
International (Latvia).
• Stay either in the fall or winter semesters or during both spring and
summer terms.
Internship Tasks
• International Trade Centre
– Assist in promoting exports from developing countries.
• Transparency International
– Research and analyze corruption in countries.
• UN Organizations
– Monitor human rights, health, and women’s status around the globe.
Earn BYU Credit
• You must take nine credits of
coursework during your semester
abroad.
• Students earn at least three hours
of credit in political science or
international relations, but can
also work with faculty from their
respective majors to set up course
contracts.
Program Costs
Cost estimates include tuition, housing, airfare, transportation, and food:
$2,900–$4,350
Housing
• Finding housing is the
responsibility of the student.
• ISP will provide a lot of useful
information, but the ultimate
responsibility falls on you.
• Connections with local Latterday Saints may be available.
Funding
•All BYU scholarships and Pell Grants can be applied to program costs.
•There are opportunities in many colleges/departments that are applicable to
the program costs.
•Once you are accepted to the program, you will automatically be considered for
a small ISP scholarship of between $100 and $500 if you have a current FAFSA
form on file at the Financial Aid Office.
Common Concerns
• What undergraduate opportunities
are there with the UN?
• How competitive is the program?
• Are there language requirements?
• What are the chances that I will get
the internship with my preferred
organization?
• Can I bring my spouse?
Application Requirements
Almost everything is done online. By
the application deadline (February 1
for spring/summer and fall, October
1 for winter), submit the following:
– a letter of intent
– a resume
– two letters of recommendation
(give to front desk in 280 HRCB)
– a writing sample
– ABC Report/transcript

Prep Course
The prep course is only for those who have been admitted into
the program. It is one credit hour and will be held in the second
block of the semester that precedes your internship. (For winter
