Background information
A collection of handbooks, divided into 10 sub-series, each providing
advanced information of a subject area within medicine: the information
needed when training as, or working as, a specialist in a distinct medical
field (eg. medical and surgical sub-specialties)
Designed to give an overview of clearly defined procedures, skills,
guidelines and technologies, also provide practical tips and case studies to
supplement hands-on experience.
Readership: Senior doctors and consultants, and specialist nurses: for
use when training and working in a medical specialty
Size online: 72 pocket handbooks, divided into 10 sub-series (March
2013)
Free content: Free abstracts available on a title and chapter level
Updates: Text is not updated; each title is replaced when a new edition
comes out. New titles are launched throughout the year.
Launched online 2009. The full text of books available via
www.oxfordmedicine.com. Content is cross-searchable via the medical
platform for all Oxford medical content
Fully enabled, XML , COUNTER compliant, Open URL, DOI, citation export,
pdf, email, social networking, My Work area (save content & searches,
annotate), QR codes (on print and pdf versions of content pages)
Images are zoomable and downloadable into PowerPoint
Links to primary sources mentioned in the references
