Classified Employment – Most traditional source for
employment search (newspapers: community, local, national,
journals); Success rates hover at about 5% to 7%.
Employment Centers – Run by state or local agencies; huge
resource for job seekers and employers (Maryland Workforce
Exchange offices have state of the art facilities).
Networking – Talking with people to learn more about the
opportunities that exist in the marketplace; Attend job fairs,
professional meetings, networking events, supermarket, post
office, family reunion, class reunion, etc; Success rate 30%50%.

set and available opportunities, companies often can place
people in positions.
* Watch for type of company – pay or not to pay .
* Success Rate 5%-28%.

search for jobs worldwide.
* Company sites, Job boards, Search Sites, “Blaster” sites

* Do not provide any non-work related personal information
* Do not give your social security number
* Do not provide credit card or bank account numbers
* Be cautious when dealing with contacts outside of your
own country
* Use keywords for a refined search ( Manager – Retail )
* Use characters for broad or narrow search
* Save search if possible
* Document (write,print,save) confirmations of submissions of
