Licensed Practical Nurses for entry into the
Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse
programs.

introductory letter explaining the grant.

Allied Health, the Grant Coordinator, and the
Program Advisor.

Each identified student received instructions
to contact the Program Advisor to sign up for
one of 8 available REM classes offered at the
agencies.
Reading and Writing were offered during the
summer semester.

tested by the OCC Study Skills Director and
Assistant.

1104 ~ Strategies for Success
Each student received instructions to contact
the Program Advisor to sign up for one of 8
available GEN 1104 classes offered at the
agencies.
The 8 GEN 1104 courses were offered
starting June 13 and ending July 19.

first semester.
 Checking all students records for grades,
transcripts, licensure.
 Identifying those who are have completed
all Nursing support courses.

the appropriate information into a
Software program written for the Nursing
Department to assist in Ranking
prospective students.
 Establishing one day a week to be at each
Partner Agency to assist students in
tutoring, check-offs, & advisement.

the levels of nursing to be

 Ascertaining the budget possibilities of
additional student assistance.
