 IBM HyperSwap now available for SVC, Storwize V7000 Gen2 and Storwize V5000

– Metro Mirror
– Global Mirror with Change Volumes
– Non-disruptive Volume Move
 Stretches a volume across the four nodes of two Storwize family I/O groups
– Copy of data at each location
– Automatically switches between copies without disruption to applications in case of failure
– Supports two-site high availability configurations only

How is HyperSwap Better?
 HyperSwap keeps nodes in an I/O group together: copies between two IO groups
– Retains full read/write performance with only one site
 HyperSwap allows grouping of multiple volumes together: data is maintained consistently
across the volumes
– Significant enhancement to disaster recovery scenarios
 HyperSwap uses Global Mirror with Change Volumes technology to retain the previous
copy of data during resynchronization
– Allows a site to continually provide disaster recovery protection
throughout its lifecycle

Increase FC Bit Map Space
 Storwize family and SVC use bitmaps to keep status information about replication functions
 Previously, each I/O group had up to 512MiB shared between FlashCopy, remote mirroring, volume
mirroring, and RAID
 Available for SVC, Storwize V5000, and Storwize V7000 Gen 2
 The new limit for FlashCopy is 2GiB of memory per I/O group on applicable platforms
 The FlashCopy limit is now separate from the other components
 The other components still share the 552MiB for Remote Copy, Volume Mirroring and RAID, but no longer
share with FlashCopy
 In a clustered system with mixed Storwize V700 Gen1 and Gen2, the new limits apply only to Gen2 control
enclosures

Acceptance
Have the Client review and acknowledge the APS Letter scope and terms and return to the Lab
Services Sales & Opportunity Manager via Email. Signature is not required.
4. Schedule
Services
Once approved, the Lab Services Sales & Opportunity Manager will contact Lab Services Delivery to
initiate the services engagement process
Optional Services
Work with the Lab Services Sales & Opportunity Manager to scope and price any additional postsales Services that would be Client paid or may be covered via IBM Post Sales Funding.
