This app allows you to text from your ipod touch with out having a phone or cellular text plan. Textfree
will give you a internet telephone number and you are on your way to texting other people for free. You

Stick It - Sticky Notes with Bump
Students and teachers can use sticky notes as reminders as well as exchange sticky notes through Bump

The app is free but an modest subscription is required to use this system. This app enables your students
to use their mobile device as a classroom polling station, answering quizzes, voting, and response.
