Holiday 1En el verano de 2010 fui con mi equipo de fútbol a un pueblo que está en Asturias,
en el norte de España. Nos alojamos en un Hotel Rural. Fuimos allí a jugar un
torneo de fútbol. Fuimos en autobús desde Madrid. El viaje duró 6 horas, pero se me
pasó rápido porque iba con una persona especial.
El primer día dimos un paseo por la playa. Yo me bañé, ¡me encanta la playa!, pero
el agua estaba helada y un poco sucia. El hotel estaba bien situado, con vistas al
puerto y rodeado de colinas verdes. Lo malo es que las vías del tren pasaban justo
al lado y había mucho ruido por las noches. Las habitaciones eran muy grandes y
estaban muy limpias. Además el hotel tenía una piscina climatizada y un spa muy
lujoso.
En la semana que estuvimos allí la cena del hotel fue lo mejor con diferencia. Pero
no nos acompañó el tiempo, ¡llovió mucho!. Así es el norte de España. Pero sin
duda, volveré.
Section (b)
Holiday 2¡Hola! ¿Qué tal? Para mí, las vacaciones fueron estupendas. Normalmente paso
mis vacaciones en España pero el verano pasado visité Egipto. Fui a Egipto con dos
amigos, Ana y Jonathan. Pasamos una semana allí. Fuimos al aeropuerto en mi

coche y luego fuimos a Luxor en avión. El vuelo duró cinco horas y fue muy
aburrido, pero vi la película "Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal". Me gustó mucho.
Nos alojamos en un hotel muy lujoso cerca del río Nilo. La vista del río era muy
bonita y el hotel tenía unas piscinas enormes al aire libre. Visitamos muchos
monumentos históricos - tumbas de los faraones y templos, pero tuvimos muy mala
suerte al intentar hacer un crucero por el Nilo, no prestaban servicios en esas
fechas. También comimos en restaurantes típicos de Egipto. Mi plato favorito fue el
babaganoush. Hizo mucho calor con temperaturas de 45 grados, ¡demasiado calor
para pasear por Egipto! Pasamos muchas horas al lado de la piscina del hotel, ¡era
muy divertido!
Me gustaría volver a Egipto porque me interesa mucho la cultura y la historia del
país.

Holiday 3El sábado por la noche llegábamos a Sevilla. Mi tía nos recomendó que nos
alojáramos en Los Seises, un palacio del siglo XVI. El hotel tiene unas vistas
magníficas desde la piscina y se encuentra en pleno centro, a 2 minutos de la
Catedral. El trato por parte del personal fue buenísimo y lo único malo fue llegar con
el coche hasta la puerta del hotel.
A la mañana siguiente fuimos a la Macarena y paseamos por el centro, viendo
iglesias y palacios que se encontraban en dirección a la plaza de toros de la
Maestranza. Después de un baño en la piscina del hotel para poder soportar el calor
fuimos a dar una vuelta por el barrio de Santa Cruz, y fuimos a comer al
Restaurante Modesto unas frituras de cebolla y pimiento y un buen pescado.
Por la tarde dimos un paseo hasta la plaza de España que está en obras, pasando
por el Parque de María Luisa que estaba un poco descuidado.
El lunes hicimos la visita a los Reales Alcázares de Sevilla donde pudimos entrar
gratis por ser estudiantes.
Por último fuimos a la Catedral, ¡las vistas desde lo alto de la Giralda eran
espectaculares!.

Section A
Andrés, Luis, Nacho, Martín y Alberto son DVICIO, una nueva banda de pop
española formada por miembros muy jóvenes. Ninguno de ellos ha cumplido 25
años. Todos ellos son de Madrid.
El cantante del grupo es Andrés Ceballos, Tiene 22 años, y nació en Madrid. Su
madre es brasileña y su padre argentino. Mide 1,78, tiene los ojos azules y el pelo
castaño claro, más largo por arriba y corto por los lados. Se formó en escuelas de
música, y conservatorios infantiles, hasta que a los 13 años se compró su primera
guitarra. Fundó su propia banda con solo 17 años. En el 2013 se fue durante dos
meses por Latinoamérica, una experiencia difícil de olvidar y en la que maduró lo
suficiente para liderar DVICIO.
Section B
Malu, es una cantante e intérprete española. Nació en Madrid, España, el 15 de
marzo de 1982. Es una mujer morena, con el pelo ondulado y con los ojos
marrones. Es de estatura mediana y delgada.
Ha vendido muchisimos discos hasta el momento y ha sido nominada a los Grammy
Latinos en 2011 y en 2013. Además, ha colaborado con otros artistas de diferentes

países.
Comenzó su carrera a los 15 años, teniendo como objetivo principal evitar las clases
del colegio. Su primer album es Aprendiz.
El 15 de octubre de 2013 salió a la venta su noveno álbum: Sí, siendo el número
uno en la lista de ventas española. Este disco le llevó a México DF y a más de 60
ciudades españolas.
Malú nació rodeada de talento, arte y música. Es hija de los cantantes Pepe de
Lucía y Pepi Benítez, hermana de José de Lucía y sobrina del guitarrista Paco de
Lucía.
Section C
Elsa Pataky es una actriz española rubia y de ojos claros. Nació en Madrid el día 18
de julio de 1976. Hija de padre español y madre rumana, desde muy joven tuvo
clara su vocación de actriz y pronto decidió seguir los pasos de su abuelo, que
también era actor. Estudió periodismo y arte dramático.
Fue conocida a partir de la serie española de televisión de temática juvenil Al salir
de clase en 1996. En ella comparte pantalla con otros muchos jóvenes actores. La
mayor parte de su carrera en el cine es haciendo comedias. El verano del 2003 es
una de las épocas más importantes en la vida profesional de Elsa. Se convirtió en
uno de los personajes más famosos del país.
Posteriormente trabajó en la película Fast Five, y Fast & Furious 6.
En el año 2014 publicó un libro escrito junto a su entrenador personal con un plan
de ejercicios y nutrición.
Section D
Cristiano Ronaldo es un futbolista portugués que juega como extremo en el Real
Madrid Club de Fútbol, de la Primera División de España. Cristiano es alto, mide
1,85 metros y pesa 84kg. Tiene los ojos marrones, el pelo corto y negro y siempre
lleva peinados diferentes.
Es considerado uno de los mejores futbolistas del mundo, llegando a ser el mejor y
más completo para muchas personas. Es con 313 goles, el segundo máximo
goleador en la historia del Real Madrid C. F. Además es el máximo goleador de la
historia de la selección de fútbol de Portugal.

Coromandel es un lugar que se puede visitar durante todo el año y es famoso por
sus playas preciosas como Whangamata. Es perfecto para el surf. Tiene olas y
viento, por lo que el windsurf y el kitesurf son deportes practicados en esta zona
también. No lejos está una playa donde se encuentran aguas calientes. Se puede
bañarse en pleno invierno y hay que mencionar que el paisaje es estupendo.
Section B
Queenstown es conocida en todo el mundo por ser un destino estupendo para
turistas en los meses de invierno. Sus campos de nieve ofrecen un lugar increíble
para esquiar y para los amantes de las fiestas el festival invernal es la opción
perfecta. El festival consiste en diez días de loca diversión e incluye muchas
actividades nocturnas.

Section C
Cape Reinga está situado al norte de Nueva Zelanda y es el punto más al norte de
la Isla Norte. Tiene un faro grande y blanco y se puede bajar a unas playas
hermosas o sacar fotos de la vista magnífica. En las leyendas maoríes se dice que
es el lugar de donde salen los espíritus de los muertos. Normalmente hace muy
buen tiempo aquí pero necesitas una chaqueta o un jersey ligero porque puede
hacer frío.

Question One: Describing the holidays

Picture 1 – is holiday 3 because the circular building is most likely a bullring, probably the Maestranza which is mentioned in the text.
Picture 2 – is holiday 1 because the text talks about a beach which is not visible in the photo but we can assume the village is coastal because of the boats; talks about
the views of the port from the hotel and the green hills which surround the town – both clearly visible in the photo
Picture 3 – is holiday 2 because the hotel pool has an exotic feel to it as would Egypt and is situated on a river which could be the Nile.

DVICIO is famous because they are a young pop band, no member over 25 ; next goal could be to travel out of Spain and do a tour in other parts of the world; or create an
album from the musical experience/influences the leader ,Andres, had in Latin America.
Malu is famous because she is a Singer who has been nominated for the Latin Grammys in 2011 and 2013. Her álbum Sí was top of the pops in Spain in 2013 and enabled her
to tour Mexico City and more tan 60 Spanish cities. As a future goal she could win a Grammy with another álbum or try to move out of the Spanish – soeaking world with her
music.
Ronaldo is famous because he is a soccer star, playing with Real Madrid, considered one of the best in the world, second most goals of a player for Real Madrid; best goal
scorer for Portugal. He should try to become the greatest goal scorer for Real Madrid also.

Coromandel: If you like beaches and surfing it is ideal for you. Whangamata is especially recommended. With waves and wind you can kitesurf or windsurf as well. If you like
swimming in warm pools in the winter you can enjoy it here and if you like great scenery Coromandel is ideal.
Queenstown: If you like Winter tourism this is the place because it is great for skiing and has a good winter festival.
Cape Reinga: IF you like photographing beautiful scenery this is a good place because it is the furthest point north in NZ; if you like beautiful beaches there are some you can
get to and if you are interested in experiencing Maori culture this is the place where the spirits of the dead leave us. You have to be a person who is not put off by the

cold.
