Purpose of the New Role:
The Development & Integration Stream Manager will be the UoN lead that will provide direction
and guidance to a team of IS specialists. The role holder will lead a team responsible for the
business analysis, specification, design, build, test and implementation of software to support
the deployment of the Core Student package in order to enable the successful transformation
of business processes in the university. It is envisaged that around the Core Student Package
there will be a series of supporting modules (bought and developed), workflows, reports,
interfaces, enhancements and forms. These will all need developing, configuring and
integrating with the Core Student Package and the legacy landscape. This role will work with
the Development & Integration Steam Manager to ensure that these activities are delivered on
time, to the right quality and completely in line with the requirements that emerge via the
Business Process stream.
As a senior member of the UoN IS team, the role holder will form a key point of
communication and connection with managers in IS, ensuring that work packages are
managed effectively and skills developed and transitioned to the IS organisation. The role will
work with alongside other Workstream Leads and Directors in the Project organisation to
ensure delivery of a successful solution.
Upon completion of Project Transform, this role will become fully accountable for all future
development needs and delivery of new IT systems functionality in the Student Management
domain utilising the same approach and methodology as carried out during the Project.
Main Responsibilities

For all elements of the technology solution outside of the Core Student
Package – carry out the functional and technical design. Ensure full integration
with the process needs emerging from the process design stream.

Ensure that the development and integration team have a clarity of purpose,
understand the context of the whole programme and the wider IS
environment.
Ensure that the team has the knowhow, resources and support necessary to
deliver their objectives
Foster excellent teamwork within and across the other workstreams of Project
Transform and Information Services

Leads the team carrying out the following solution development activities:
- Configuration of non-core packages
- Design and build of workflows, reports, interfaces conversions,
enhancements and forms
- Application design and build of bespoke solution elements
- Design and build of the integration layer
- Carry out unit and SIT testing in line with the testing strategy
- Document solutions and support the creation of training materials
- Provide post go-live warranty support during the stabilisation period
- Support transition to the BAU support organisation

The role holder will set the direction and methodology for the solution design.
This will involve resolving arising issues and deciding on the most appropriate
technical and process workarounds as required
Builds close working relationships with the Business Process stream and the
Change management streams, ensuring that the deliverables are designed and
implemented properly
Acts as the team manager for UoN employees in the Solution Delivery
Workstream, ensuring the required development of skills and knowledge

ensure activities deliver required outcomes within expected timelines and
delivery standards. Including monitoring team performance through the
creation and development of dashboards or similar tools.
