Job Family and Level: APM6 Contract Status: Permanent Hours of Work: Full-time, 36.25h per week Location: Kings Meadow Campus Reporting to: Solution Manager Purpose of the New Role: The Development & Integration Stream Manager will be the UoN lead that will provide direction and guidance to a team of IS specialists. The role holder will lead a team responsible for the business analysis, specification, design, build, test and implementation of software to support the deployment of the Core Student package in order to enable the successful transformation of business processes in the university. It is envisaged that around the Core Student Package there will be a series of supporting modules (bought and developed), workflows, reports, interfaces, enhancements and forms. These will all need developing, configuring and integrating with the Core Student Package and the legacy landscape. This role will work with the Development & Integration Steam Manager to ensure that these activities are delivered on time, to the right quality and completely in line with the requirements that emerge via the Business Process stream. As a senior member of the UoN IS team, the role holder will form a key point of communication and connection with managers in IS, ensuring that work packages are managed effectively and skills developed and transitioned to the IS organisation. The role will work with alongside other Workstream Leads and Directors in the Project organisation to ensure delivery of a successful solution. Upon completion of Project Transform, this role will become fully accountable for all future development needs and delivery of new IT systems functionality in the Student Management domain utilising the same approach and methodology as carried out during the Project. Main Responsibilities 1. % time per year For all elements of the technology solution outside of the Core Student Package – carry out the functional and technical design. Ensure full integration with the process needs emerging from the process design stream. Recruitment 30% Ensure that the development and integration team have a clarity of purpose, understand the context of the whole programme and the wider IS environment. Ensure that the team has the knowhow, resources and support necessary to deliver their objectives Foster excellent teamwork within and across the other workstreams of Project Transform and Information Services 2. Leads the team carrying out the following solution development activities: - Configuration of non-core packages - Design and build of workflows, reports, interfaces conversions, enhancements and forms - Application design and build of bespoke solution elements - Design and build of the integration layer - Carry out unit and SIT testing in line with the testing strategy - Document solutions and support the creation of training materials - Provide post go-live warranty support during the stabilisation period - Support transition to the BAU support organisation 30% 3. The role holder will set the direction and methodology for the solution design. This will involve resolving arising issues and deciding on the most appropriate technical and process workarounds as required Builds close working relationships with the Business Process stream and the Change management streams, ensuring that the deliverables are designed and implemented properly Acts as the team manager for UoN employees in the Solution Delivery Workstream, ensuring the required development of skills and knowledge 10% Setting, reviewing and ensuring progress towards In Project measures to ensure activities deliver required outcomes within expected timelines and delivery standards. Including monitoring team performance through the creation and development of dashboards or similar tools. 10% 4. 5. 6. 10% 10% Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Essential Qualifications/ Education Desirable Good Honours degree or equivalent in a computing science or associated discipline ITIL Agile Prince 2 Foundation level Skills/Training/ Experience Significant and in-depth experience of working in a structured development project environment with methodologies such as Prince 2, ITIL and Agile Substantial business analysis experience – with evidence of working with diverse groups of users to convert requirements into successful solutions and resolving Page 2 of 4 Experience of providing solutions in the University of Nottingham complex problems supported by the technology design. Significant experience of designing and developing solutions in a complex applications landscape Experience of solutions design and delivery of student related systems in the HE sector Successful record of: managing complex operations change management team leadership process development Influencing: Ability to influence across all levels and disciplines in order to obtain and deliver required outputs.
